Former UK ambassador: CIA sent people to be ‘raped with broken bottles’

Former UK ambassador: CIA sent people to be raped with broken bottlesThe CIA relied on intelligence based on torture in prisons in Uzbekistan, a place where widespread torture practices include raping suspects with broken bottles and boiling them alive, says a former British ambassador to the central Asian country.

......................

In the story about a UK ambassador reporting on U.S. sponsored torture in Uzbekistan is buried an interesting tidbit about why we are in Afghanistan:

Murray alleged that in the late 1990s the Uzbek ambassador to the US met with then-Texas Governor George W. Bush to discuss a pipeline for the region, and out of that meeting came agreements that would see Texas-based gain the rights to Uzbekistan's natural gas deposits, while oil company Unocal worked on developing the Trans-Afghanistan pipeline.

"The consultant who was organizing this for Unocal was a certain Mr. Karzai,
who is now president of Afghanistan," Murray noted.

and it goes on with:

There are designs of this pipeline, and if you look at the deployment of US forces in Afghanistan, as against other NATO country forces in Afghanistan, you'll see that undoubtedly the US forces are positioned to guard the pipeline route. It's what it's about. It's about money, it's about oil, it's not about democracy."

4. War is always about money. It's a racket.
Smedley Butler warned us of this ages ago.

If they can, they'll find some 'cause' to back up the war for profit... but it's always about profit.

Unfortunately, having an all-volunteer military and a well-organized propaganda campaign promoting what might as well be the worhsip of the same practically guarantees that this will not stop.

6. Our entire presence in the Middle East is based on money/oil and not on 'terrorists'. Why it is
impossible for the USA to give up its empire. It doesn't matter who's in the White House; we're run by the military-industrial complex.

10. Adding all the things up that we know
would one not consider the possibility that the CIA is a dangerous, fraudulent, redundant, extra-governmental terrorist organization that should be immediately dismantled for our protection, with the non-criminal element thereof being offered positions either in DIA or in the State Department (the analysts at least)? Just saying...

12. Does anyone even still pretend it's for Democracy? I thought the last
election showed even the naysayers Democracy is the last reason we are still in Afghanistan. Heck it isn't even on the list.
