a throw away vote, no CBO score, no debate just get it out of the way.

"David Swanson speaking on Nov. 4, 2009, in Pennsylvania on the Weiner Amendment, the Kucinich Amendment, the Public Option, the upcoming votes, and how we are being played for suckers."

Played for suckers...I agree.

1. Single payer deserves a vote
If for no other reason, to show that it does not have even close to the votes needed for passage.

I predict about 120 votes. 130 if they are lucky.

3. Yeah, that's really something to be proud of.
For me, I want a vote so we can have a concrete list of who our enemies are. Any member of Congress who votes against Single Payer is someone who should never receive a single shred of support from any self-respecting progressive.

4. Votes here. Votes there. I wish my vote counted, but I don't know.
If my vote was counted the way accountants keep their clients accounts accurate with all the checks and balances then we might have some real votes that matter. Then our elected representatives might truly reflect the will of the people.

6. Maybe the public deserved to see an estimate from the CBO before...
a vote.

The vote is meaningless at this point, as Waxman said they are now following the President on HC, just like they did in the early 90's.

2. All our present Congress wants to do is get this out of the way.
It's too dangerous to their special interests. Honestly, I have been sitting back and looking at this carnival since we took back everything in Washington, supposedly. All we did was replace a bunch of corporate whores with another bunch. At least the Republicans were honest about whom they were whoring for. We now are discovering we got the ones who are bigger liars than them and that's really hard to do.

5. Exactly, David Swanson is correct this vote allows some members of Congress...
to say they voted on a SP amendment when there has been no published CBO estimate.

As much as I appreciate Weiner speaking for SP, I wonder about his role in this con game. Back in August he said the CBO was scoring this over the August recess, several follow up calls to his office and still no public estimate. He did not publish his amendment for people to read or try and gather any support for his amendment, although he did set up a website for the public option.

What a game.
