You may now enjoy hard core christmas music at Office Depot if you want to...
was there yesterday and over the speakers came the first xmas music I've heard this fall. Not just your jingle bells stuff but hard core religious stuff for the enjoyment of all those non christians who shop there. The business of pushing buttons to get people to spend is well under way. Merry Cashmas everyone :-)

5. Man I hate this time of year
Cashmas seemingly starts earlier and earlier every year...and the commercialism is absolutely disgusting.

By December, I hate seeing the commercials because it's easy to tire of all the ads saying the only way to have a good Cashmas is to BUY, BUY, BUY!

13. We should just stop
crappin' around and commence with all the Christmas stuff starting on the 5th of July. Actually, this July I saw a week-long "Christmas in July" cable channel where you could get a jump on buying decorations and other Christmas paraphernalia. I think they had a cute, little Rudolf the Red-nosed Reindeer as part of the Nativity Scene if you were relgiously inclined.

16. Several Radio Stations Have Already Gone Into Xmas Mode...
For years the unwritten rule was not to play Xmas stuff until after Thanksgiving, but during this era of "deregulation" that date has move further back. This year several stations have gone into Santa mode before Halloween. Yep, it is pushing buttons as stations are now rated using a "people meter" and stations hope that businesses will put on the music which will snag ratings from people walking into stores. So even if you're not listening to the music, if you have one of the Arbitron devices, you'll give the station a "hit"...a sneaky way to steal a few listeners and try to pump up fourth quarter numbers in a industry that is in total meltdown.

Home Despot is on my "shit list"...the owner is a big GOOP contributor, not to mention was the former employer of Michael Vick. Lowes and Menards gets my business...even though I still miss the old hardware store where you didn't have to walk miles to get a box of screws or deal with kids working for minimum wage who never seem to know where anything is located and send you on a wild goose chase all over the place.

17. Yeah,
We have a soft rock station I enjoy here during most of the year, which switches to 24/7 Christmas shortly. I refuse to listen to it throughout November & December and let them know every year, which obviously has had a great impact. Gee, almost time for my yearly email. :banghead:
