No Single Payer No troop withdrawal(s) No BushCo investigation No rescinding of Super Rich tax breaks No Wall St reform No RE-reform of Medicare No lobbying reform
The battle over healthcare is both literal and symbolic. It's about staying alive, but it's about power and feeding the beast. And the Repukes are right about one thing: for all their complaining about it, the Dems can't even get it right despite being in control. Hard to argue that point.
I look all around me and the predictable results of disastrous federal policy of the Bush Administration are playing out in every way. Property and sales taxes are up, as are class sizes, State fees of all types, insurance premiums, tolls and crime rates. Down are essential services for the needy, wages, employment and benefits, and nearly all avenues of opportunity for the betterment any of the Have Nots. People on the local level are fighting for the scraps, pointing fingers at one another and in many ways neglecting to direct their anger at the institutional framework which has created this mess.
It's time to send a message that we need a party that is more than just a little left of fascism. We need a government by the people and for the people and not just one that will only debate far enough not to offend The Establishment. That's as far as we get nowadays and this country is in BIG trouble right now. Big business feeds the lobbyists who feed the pols who feed big business...and we all pay the tab to keep the cycle going. Think about it--Big Pharm, the insurance industry, defense contractors and Walmart literally control decisions on who lives or dies in this country. Frightening.
Unless Obama and the Dems say "damn the torpedos" (and The Establishment) and take back the country to do what's best for Americans, I'm putting my vote and my contributions with people who will.
