A short conversation I just had with my (pretty conservative) dad
*I walk into the room, some joker on Fox News talks about rationing health care*

Me: OH MY GOD! THERE ISN'T NOR WAS THERE EVER RATIONING! What is so hard about letting anybody buy into Medicare who wants to?

Dad: That would make sense to me, but that's not what's in the bill.

Me: That was what the original public option was supposed to be! Before they watered it down with triggers and opt ins and outs!

Dad: *stunned*

If it makes sense to somebody who has voted conservative all their life, why can't it make sense to the Blue Dogs and Repubs or the wingnuts?

1) The politicians know it makes sense, which is why they had to stop it in order to keep the companies who line their pockets happy.

2) The wingnuts have been lied to by biased corporate media and its stooges to the point where most people are beyond repair.

*facepalm*

1. Medicare 4 All
Don't even need to have 3 words in the slogan. Repubs can't fight it, because they are helping everyone to keep the Government's hands off people's Medicare.

2. It makes sense to your Dad because he actually believes in his conservative ideals. . .
the Blue Dogs and the Republicans and all the other assorted obstructionists believe in money -- be it from Big Pharma or the insurance companies or where ever, they believe only in money and how it gets to their pocket or stays in the pockets of their benefactors. You Dad, and other thinking conservatives who are not whores for vested interests, can see the value of wise policy decisions. So can the whores, but to them, money is paramount.
