and never come back!

Then, things can finally get done for once.

Go John Galt! Get the fuck out of here and stay there!

1. I remember plodding through that dreadful book
and thinking the world would miss Rand's favored class of inherited money a hell of a lot less than it would those of us who broke our backs for a living.

4. Or even better, if they just went to some magical land where they don't have to pay taxes or put up
with us elite socialist monsters. Hell, I'd start a fund-raiser to buy them tickets the hell out of here. Don't get me wrong: I am not a "love it or leave it" type, and there is room here for diverse opinions, but let's be honest at least about those opinions. If they think they can run some tax-free utopia, let them. Please.

6. The problem with that weird-ass Randian thinking is that every last one of them thinks he's going to
be the one who ends up on top. Sorry, someone has to not make it in a stand-on-your-own-two-feet world!

9. And the weird thing is that Rand had characters who accepted
that they were lower level people - they knew their place! She often used the term "betters" of people, like you know your place and defer to your "betters."

 That Ayn was such a comic! Those characters were indeed purely imaginary.

10. The whole time while reading the book I thought Galt was
a real whinner...always whinning about how so many were trying to destroy him, but he'd show them by making it all on his own...well he didn't make it on his own like the repuges like to believe...

13. exactly. Just like the Horatio Alger stories
They like to look at those as examples of plucky people making good from nothing, but if you notice the young protagonist of those tales often had help up from a rich, older man, and often improved their standings but not remarkably so.

12. Randians remind me of little kids who decide they've had it with their parents
because they are sick of rules and restrictions, and they need to run away from home.

Oh, they are so mad! They GRAB their suitcase, and they PACK it up with clothes and this favorite toy and that favorite book, and maybe they even get a jar of peanut butter and some crackers, and they empty their little piggy banks and they stuff the money in their pockets and they put on their coat and OFF THEY GO!!!!!

...And not until later does it occur to them to ask some really simple questions:

1. What do I do when the peanut butter and crackers run out?
2. Is three dollars and fifty-four cents really going to buy me anything?
3. Where am I going to sleep tonight?

And that's when it hits them: Ohhhh. Yeah, my parents do have some crappy rules I hate, but they also give me free food and a roof over my head until I'm old enough to go out and get those things for myself. There's that.

Randians think it's soooooo unfair that their wonderfulness is not allowed to run rampant and free and uncontrolled, and they want to punish everyone else by saying that if they're not allowed to do as they please, well, they'll just stop doing ANYTHING and see how we like it. Truth is, the world can do without them a lot more easily than they can do without the world.
