We're pleased to wave bye-bye

to our outgoing mayor, who'd made national headlines by wielding guns and bullying kids and making racist comments about the President. He's been replaced by another Republican who at least has some semblance of social decorum, even though he's part of the politically incestuous group headed up by the sheriff and DA. Two of my friends, both Democrats, ran for city council; she won, he didn't. We also voted down a mill levy override that would have pumped some much-needed money into our hurting schools; that ballot measure was the favorite screech and yowl by the local teabag mob who will soon be trying to find someone to blame for their kids having no textbooks. We have two new members on our school board, one is a strident homophobe, the other is Doug Kershaw. Go figure.

6. I'm always surprised when NE Colorado makes progress like this

Congrats for small steps.

We've lived in Jefferson County since 1976 so I remember when it was a very conservative area. But it's grown and we're making progress, too.

Rachel seems to have really hit her stride on tv. Last night, when she invited Dick Armey for a talk it gave me the chills. I'd never have the nerve to go up against that blowhard on tv. But Rachel is fearless and it's so nice that she's ours.
