What happened in Maine makes me want to
scream! I am so sick of the control the rich and religious have over this country. I am torn between the impulse to flee and the urge to stay and fight. Is it wrong for me to feel so frustrated about the state of affairs in this country that I would entertain thoughts of abandoning it? The rich rip us all off and the religious prostelytize their puritanical doctrine based on some sick belief in a mythical god who has apparently determined that he would rather spend his time helping a football team win a stupid game than allow two people who love each other to be happy and content regardless of their gender.

To the LGBT community: I am sorry. I am sorry that you are constantly injured by our society like you have just been injured in Maine. And like you were injured in California. The injuries you've sustained by the society of which I am a part is inexcusalbe. You deserve better. I will stay despite the urge to leave because I really have no choice. But I pledge to each and every one of you now who have had to endure a different set of rules simply for being you that I will fight for you in any way I can and I will vote in your favor every goddamned chance I get.

1. As a Floridian, I am sorry for what my state did last year, too
Rights should not be decided by voters, especially in cases where rights are denied.

I am so tired of watching all our rights being abridged. As someone who chose not to be married through a religious organization, I worry that the American Taliban will decide that my marriage is not valid since it was not "sanctified" by some church authority. I worry that my nieces will not have the right to make decisions about their reproductive health.

I am writing this while watching coverage of the demonstrations in Tehran - and wondering how long until it happens here.
