So, what other news story is going to be posted that destroys my faith in humanity?
15 year old boy gets burned half to death by his "friends" over a bike.

11 year old gives birth after marrying a 19 year old.

Man runs down and kills Iraqi daughter for being too "westernized".

Estranged couple films themselves raping a four year old.

More female bodies found at Anthony Sowell's house.

No gay marriage in Maine.

More soldiers dead in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Johnson and Johnson to add 8000 people to the unemployment rolls.

On and on and on it goes.

Is it only "news" if it's bad?

I know, I know. "We don't report on it, it still happens, that doesn't change reality."

Think, though. When was the last time (well, besides January 20th, 2009) a positive news story came our way?

How often do we see positive news stories? Ones that don't make us racked with debilitating fear, rethinking our positions on the death penalty or just straight disgusted with the unfairness of life?

Is this really all by design? I think I can guess the answer to that, I just want to know how you feel.

1. Ignorance is Bliss
Over the last few years I have come to develop an understanding of that expression.

2. here's one

from the greatest page. it's not much, but it's something.

the democrat won in the NY23 race.

i think it's by design because what gets the ratings? if it bleeds it leads? apparently that does not extend to bleeding soldiers, probably because if the people were faced with the reality of war day in day out they would insist that it end.

3. "Positive" only puts asses in the seats if it's snake oil that's unlikely to happen.
See "The Secret", Zig Ziglar or Joel Osteen.

I always found it funny that the people who say "This war is going great, democracy is happening over there, people have more freedoms, change doesn't happen overnight . . ."

a) don't see the disconnect with their own expectations of Obama,
b) can't explain why we're STILL THERE after 6 years
c) can't explain why we barely hear a peep of ANYthing positive or negative coming from over there. It's almost as if these were just more forgotten American conflicts.

But yes, NY23 is a positive story for sure.
