I fell asleep, and I'm in some kind of nightmare.

2 new Rethug Governors.

Gay Marriage defeated in Maine.

Then the ABC news anchor said that the president wouldn't have a health care bill until next year???

I'm not thrilled with the bill, but this would be absolutely a brazillion times worse than the election defeats. People want health care reform.

I'd go back to bed, but I'm not sure I am not still there.

Edit: All they said was that Obama had been told by Dem leaders that a bill wouldn't be ready.

13. MSNBC was showing footage of Reid saying
he wasn't following any time lines, so wasn't going to promise anything by the end of the year.

Remind me again why he's the majority leader?

3. But the good news - We've gained TWO more seats in Congress! yay!
The CA seat is a bonafide progressive liberal and the NY seat hasn't been held by Dems since before the Civil War!

So, that's the good news out of tonight.

And, oh yeah, the bill delay thing is Harry Reid being his usual pain in the ass self.
I think we'll get it by the end of the year.

8. Here's the article I caught
http://abcnews.go.com/m/screen?id=8987651&pid=4380645

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi may still be confident -- and her spokesman Brendan Daly said today, "We are going to get our part done" -- but the reason for the delay can be found in the Senate.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has yet to release the bill he eventually plans to bring to the Senate floor. Reid is still waiting for the Congressional Budget Office to come up with an estimated cost of several possible variations of his bill before deciding which one to introduce in the Senate.

That cost estimate, Democrats tell ABC News, is not expected until next week.

Asked directly by ABC News, "Will you pass health care reform this year?" Reid pointedly did not answer "yes."

Instead, he replied, "We are not going to be bound by any timetables," adding, "We are going to do this as quickly as we can."

The delay is causing some frustration among Reid's fellow Democrats, but Reid said of his colleagues, "They want us to do this the right way, not the fast way."

10. Adjournment (for Congress) is now isn't it?
and once recessed they won't be back until 2010.

Maybe that's why?

11. If they don't move now,
there will never be anything. The teabaggers created enough havoc in August. The Rethugs vowed to slow walk this to death, and they are doing it. They apparently have friends in some Dems.

I don't like some of what I'm hearing about the bill. However, this is Obama's main issue. If he gets no bill
before adjournment, there is no way to spin it as being good. The RW will declare victory, and the majority of
the people who want reform will be disgusted by the inaction.

They will start hanging more and more of the blame on the Dems who do have a majority everywhere. If the Dems can't come together and pass a decent bill over a group of RW throwbacks, then they deserve a shitstorm.

12. Oh, I agree such would keep the GOP afloat for quite some time
but chances are the GOP figured the coming holidays into the game plan. I don't believe that anyone in Congress forgot the calendar.

The target day was October 30 for adjournment. So...

15. I care less about political positioning then I do about getting a quality
health care bill. Honesty, the bill as it stands sucks. I don't like it. It is not Health Care Reform. It is an insurance mandate. The government forcing Americans to fill the coffers of business and then subsidizing the bill for those that can't afford it with our tax dollars. I don't believe government should be giving the insurance companies such a huge pay day without any price controls. It is sickening.

I don't know anyone that can afford another $1500 a month for anything-- where are they going to pull that money from? With record unemployment and underemployment this is a ridiculous requirement and the fact that the politicos don't realize that makes me believe they live in a bubble.

We need single payor in order to compete on a global scale, period.

Breaking News: BCBS Excellus has just announced they are raising rates statewide by 9% this year.
