1. no but then they have to realise there are consequences
Edited on Wed Nov-04-09 12:37 AM by vadawg
unless the child has a medical reason i suppose the school can exclude them, not sure about a genuine religious or cultural reason as well, i guess that would have to be handled on a case by case basis...

edit to add both my kids have had their first vax and are due for their booster this week.

5. They not only risk their own brat
they risk all the other people their kid infects.

This flu is dangerous, folks. Get the kids their shots.

6. it's analogous to
a parent supporting a war after arranging for their child to avoid serving.

7. No. I am for doing so, but I stand firm with 'your body, your choice'
And when it comes to your children, you should have a choice as well.

9. it was probably wrong for them to have kids in the first place.

too bad there isn't some way to require a license or permit so that only rational people were allowed to procreate.

but then again- if nature wants to clean up the gene pool a little, this may end up having pretty good results, as far as helping to head off the prophesied 'idiocracy'...

10. Reminds me of poll taxes and the fundies of old
When you see things my way, then you are worthy to vote or have kids. Diversity? It is bad.

11. there are way too many people with kids that have no business being parents.

that in itself is one of the biggest factors behind our failing educational standards.

maybe a good pandemic can help get us back on track.

13. Don't you think there's something
very wrong in the nation when a whole group of people don't trust the government not to kill them? Do you trust your government to always have your best interests in mind? For real, look at what the government does - right or wrong, they have reasons, even if many don't quite realize what they're reacting to. It's very telling, IMO.

15. Considering Republicans want to force them on us...
I would have to say of course it is ok to refuse them. It's better than ok. It's a fight for freedom.

16. Neither "wrong" nor "right". People make their own decisions, for their own reasons.
The role of Public Health is to help folks make *informed decisions*. Vaccination is one of them.

What any individual does with the info we provide is up to them.

17. if by "informed" you mean "informed by stupidity"
For every 1 rational, well-supported opinion against vaccination (I can't think of any, but I'll grant you the theoretical possibility), there are 999 based on pure ignorance. Sadly, unlike believing that the earth is flat, anti-vacc hysteria kills people.
