Tonight doesn't really mean all that much folks.

It's only a shame that we didn't work these elections like the GOP apparently did but it's NOT a mandate, just an example of campaign organization and field work at work.

1. No, that is not why they hold off year elections.
In Virginia, this was a scheduled election to replace the incumbent governor, who can not serve more than one term at a time.

In New York, Obama appointed the previous congressman to a seat on his cabinet, and law dictated there would be an election at this time to replace him.

In California District 10, Taushcher became undersecretary for Arms Control. The special election was held, as per California State Law.

If Dems don't come out and vote it is nor fault not theirs.

It is not always a plot.

9. I don't mean it's a plot like they scheduled this specifcally to upset Obama.
:argh:

I simply mean that the people who wrote these Constitutions could have easiy made them fall on a Presidential cycle or at least on an off year (06, 10, 14) cycle instead of an off off year (07,09,11) cycle. Democrats simply don't come out to vote in these off off year elections as a statistical fact. I'm not blaming any particular Democrat so don't lecture me about how YOU in particular vote.

2. For one, you're wrong about the cause,
and for two, if Dems don't vote it is their own fucking fault, not the fault of some mythical "they".

7. I'm right about the cause - low turnout among Dems is why they lost.
and yes of course it's our own fault for not voting.

And I'm not referring specifically to any particular DU'er. I'm referring to Dems in general who don't vote in non Presidetial elections.

3. Voting is like "church." You do it or you don't.
And it's not all or nothing. For some people Christmas and Easter are enough. I get that.

I'm a religious voter. This is as close as I get to impact external forces that consequently impact my life.

Church. Not so much.

I wish more people would take the time to vote. If they were informed on their local issues, I think they would be compelled to vote.
Whatever, I'm not a missionary.

5. I have voted in every election since JFKennedy and it always upsets
me that our Dems do not vote in off years. How do we expect to hold power and get anything done if we do not work at it all the time?

10. Getting them to vote by mail (VBM) or absentee by mail works wonders.
If your state allows it, you should work on getting your precinct's Dems to VBM.

11. I did do the VBM
I must have gotten ten mailings from the Corzine campaign on it. He really did push it.

How do you get others to the polls on election day though?
