Virginia has just elected a graduate of Pat Robertson's College of Knowledge as Governor.

As a man I don't get why a single women would vote for him. I just don't get it.
But then after working for 3 months I was sure John Kerry had Ohio won too.

oh well might as well party.

2. From wiki .... he is really nuts
The document gained attention in the campaign because it outlined a 15-point conservative Republican/Christian agenda, including 10 points McDonnell pursued during his years in the General Assembly, according to press analysis.<26> This agenda includes opposition to abortion and support for school vouchers, and tax policies that favor heterosexual families. In the work, McDonnell argues for covenant marriage, a "legally distinct type of marriage intended to make it more difficult to obtain a divorce".<27>
In his thesis, McDonnell said "government policy should favor married couples over 'cohabitators, homosexuals or fornicators.'"<28> McDonnell also "described working women and feminists as 'detrimental' to the family."<29> McDonnell also "criticized a landmark 1965 Supreme Court decision" which legalized the use of contraceptives by married couples. In the thesis, McDonnell argued for the use of government intervention on societal issues, writing that "man’s basic nature is inclined towards evil, and when the exercise of liberty takes the shape of pornography, drug abuse, or homosexuality, the government must restrain, punish, and deter."

11. I would like to throw out some support for our fellow Dems in VA, & especially the female Dems.
I know this must be a punch in the gut tonight, even if it was expected.

I know after last year, it must feel like being suddenly thrown in reverse.

And yes, your new Governor is a misogynist wingnut.

For the good news:
He had to move leftward to get elected and suppress his inner wingnut to do it.
That means he knew he couldn't go full on crazy to be Gov of VA - a good sign!

In my state (TX), our repub gov candidates for next year are just chomping at the bit to out-wingnut each other!
They won't be considered serious to their base unless they are foaming at the mouth!
So yeah, I just can't wait to get swept up in that shitstorm - ugh.

Anyway, I just wanted to let VA Dems know I was thinking of them, give them some support, and THANK THEM FOR GETTING OBAMA TO THE WH.
