Gloatfest 2009
Edited on Tue Nov-03-09 07:53 PM by WyldRogue
Well, it is sickening seeing the Republican Party/GOP Party/Conservative Party mouthpieces proudly boasting that these 'elections' are a rejection of Obama.

If people are foolish enough to vote for the party that drove our country into a tailspin, then We the People deserve all the bad shyt that are going to come our way when they have a brain-fart and start supporting and electing the whack-jobs.

It's a shame and a sham...

Seems the African American voters are NOT turning out to vote, especially in NJ.

I'll say it again, it's a shame and a sham..

We deserve what is coming.

1. Black and young voters are notorious for not showing up in off-year elections.
Eight years in polling proved this to be correct to me.

2. Nothing is coming. Calm down.

The Pukes can crow all they want; voters in these races were locally motivated; not an indication of Obama's popularity or 2010 elections.

I will say this though - we need better candidates and need to work extra hard to keep youth and minority voters engaged. Tradtionally, they just don't turn out in these types of races.

3. Problem is...
... complacency. Guess most of the base doesn't think these little elections don't add up to much but what it does do is give the whackies momentum.

Like my mentor told me: 'It's all about the BASE. Without it, you ain't winning shyt'

Virginia is not that big of a deal but it does fuel the nutters but if the nutter manage to get NJ and NY 23, watch the gloatfest that we will be flooded with on radio, tv and print all the way to the 2010 and 2012 elections. Democrats severely lost the momentum and allowed the Rep/GOP/Con party to dictate and control the atmosphere.

It's the brushing it off approach that is going to nip the Dems later down the road. Look at what happened with the health care debate. Give the nuts and inch, they'll take the whole ruler and tape measure.

4. Deeds was a horrible candidate.

We need enthusiastic, progressive candidates who continue to promote Obama's message to the young and minorities. Deeds would have lost against any candidate.

5. So..
...if the whackies sweeps these elections, then we can all rest peacefully tonite because 'insert some diatribe here'?

The Dems dropped the ball bigtime by allowing the repugs to run around the country spewing BS rhetoric and not calling them out. I still hear the same rhetoric and hardly a peep from anyone other than Grayson and Weiner.

It's one thing to lose a battle, it's another when you give power to the other side by being wishy washy and that's what the Dems have shown what they are since 2006, a bunch of capitulating, wishy washy cowards that allowed themselves to be bullied.

But hey, don't take my word for it tho. The tallies aren't in yet for this round and 2010 looks like it's going to continue the trend we are seeing tonite because the BASE is not fired up to make sure the Repugs stay out of office.

VA = Rep/GOP/Cons
NJ = Rep/GOP/Cons
NY23 = Rep/GOP/Cons

Do you not realize that the whackies are going to proclaim it as a victry?? That the MSM will be spewing the same BS days on end?

*shrugs*

6. You confuse rejection of the status quo
With the embracing of the alternative. Just because the 2008 elections were a referendum on Bush's policies doesn't mean that those same people will turn around and suddenly endorse Obama's. Many simply wanted to get Bush and people like him out of the White House and would have voted for any alternative.

There is no such thing as a tidal wave of mandate in this country. I mean, look at the war situation. People showed up in DROVES to vote against the war and it ultimately didn't matter. The economy isn't really in any better shape than it was at this time last year in any appreciable way to people who aren't heavily invested in Wall Street.

By its very design, a 2 party system is going to be one that picks and chooses issues around the center of the American political thought. Individual races might not be close, but overall, there's never going to be a wholesale appreciation or rejection of one of the two parties. People on this site and FreeRepublic are flat out delusional to think otherwise.

How receptive do you think all those young people are going to be to the Democratic message in 2010 or 2012 if we're still fighting 2 wars and we're still struggling to recover jobs?
