NY-23: [UPDATE] Hoffman Accuses Democrats of ‘Stealing the Election’
http://washingtonindependent.com/66380/ny-23-hoffman-accuses-democrats-of-stealing-the-election

By David Weigel 11/3/09 4:27 PM

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — At a short press availability in his campaign office here, NY-23 Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman said that a GOTV volunteer’s tires had been slashed, and all but blamed Democrats for the dirty trick.

“There are reports that they’re bringing in the troops and they’re bringing in ACORN,” said Hoffman. “I think the Democrats are doing anything they possibly can to steal this election away from the 23rd district.”

Page One, Item 1.1 --- Point fingers and loudly accuse the other side of that which you yourself are most guilty of.

These assclowns are so predictable that it isn't even amusing any more.

WAAAH!! No fair!!

8. According to another thread
The volunteer ran over a broken bottle. Sounds like Hoffman's launching a pre-emptive whine, which Fox will dutifully pick up, report as fact, and billboard 24-7. The other networks, sensitive to their assignment editors at Fox, will report Hoffman's loss as due to the sinister machinations of ACORN as undisputed fact (because it's "out there"), and it will be, as always, good news for Republicans when a whack-a-doo like Hoffman gets his ass handed to him.

Prove me wrong, ABC, NBC and CBS. I dare ya.

And yet we never see a picture.

13. Update
Update: Anton Troianovski of the Wall Street Journal followed up with the Plattsburgh police on this, and was told that the volunteer actually damaged his tire on a broken bottle. I asked Hoffman campaign manager Dan Tripp about this–he said he had no comment because the campaign had not heard this yet.

It’s not unheard of for a candidate to make an accusation like this without having all the facts, but it’s a strange sideshow in the final hours.

14. Thank you.
Something about this smells like Rove bugging his own office. Not that this volunteer intentionally damaged his tire, but that the media is likely to endlessly repeat the worst version of events as the truth.

Better bookmark that WSJ report. This tire-slashing is going to be an urban legend, like most things about ACORN.

22. Well he ought to know ....
The conservatives stole the Presidency in 2000 via Jeb Bush and in 2004 via Ohio. Their "dirty tricks" still continue.

He probably slashed those tires himself. Conservatives are nothing if they have no one to blame and nothing to whine about.

Also to be really mature, I have to observe that he looks like a recovered archaeological remain wearing coke bottle glasses. He needs a makeover and a brain transplant. Maybe an upgrade from the size of a pea to the size of a walnut, which seems to be your standard conservative brain size.
