Mom has basic cable.
It includes the Fox package. If she wants to see better news coverage she has to buy one of the higher-priced levels, and on her small fixed income that's not going to happen. She's not too concerned about it, though, as long as she can watch her ballgames and the shopping channel. But we've been concerned that Fox's twisted 'coverage' would give her a distorted picture about what's happening in the country and around the world.

It's been difficult, especially since Mom has always been very active; I clearly remember accompanying her as she went door to door for Eisenhower just like she did for the March of Dimes. She worked for other candidates over the years, like my late dad a lifelong Republican. Her "momsight" wasn't limited to those eyes in the back of her head that always managed to catch us in the act, and we would have done well to remember that instead of stewing about her exposure to Fox.

At this time last year, when Mom was a spry 89 years old, for the first time in her life she voted for the Democratic candidate for President. Take THAT, Fox! And GO MOM!!!

Posted to celebrate where we were and what we were doing one year ago tomorrow.

1. Hmm...
My elderly parents have had basic cable for well over a year now and there's no fox package.
They still have to deal with basic m$m bs, however.

2. I'd suggest an xmas present for your mom

an upgrade for the coming year of a cable pkg that includes msnbc, link and bbca. Sounds like she deserves to stay plugged in to real news.

Now if I only had an idea for such an appropos Xmas or bd gift for my dad who has *everything* including every cable channel, I'd be happy.

4. Never heard of the "Fox" package.
Are you saying she only gets Fox news? No networks? No CNN? No MSNBC?

This way...as I browse around with my remote, I do not have to scan thru hundreds of channels that are of no interest to me.

I have DISH TV by the way..but I would think that other providers would have this option. How would you block porn from kids if you wanted to?
FAUX NOISE is as bad as porn...in fact even worse.
