1. My prediction:
This ban will be as ineffective as any other sort of barely enforceable automobile ban, such as the ones involving seat belts, child car seats, and drinking.

The only solution is to stop the cell phone companies from offering texting. Period.

You should only be able to write messages with devices that need a lap, table, and two hands to use, that are incompatible with steering wheels.

4. Why 3 MPH?
There would be an enormous temptation to text in bumper-to-bumper traffic, and that's the time when drivers need to be the most alert, keeping up, not letting gaps form, and making damn sure you don't hit the car in front of you when you do inch forward.

9. Yeah, and I've nearly been walked into
by boobs texting while strolling down supermarket aisles.

Texting is dangerous no matter where it's done, as long as the texter is in motion, or in a place where others are in motion. If you must insist on texting, then sit your ass down in a stable seat that someone alert is in control of, if it's on a moving vehicle, and indulge in an activity that clearly regards the rest of the surrounding world as completely irrelevant.
