** UPDATE ** --- MSNBC "live" online - 2 options - feedback?

(1) MSNBC TVU P2P "live" video feed - http://www.lasvegasmixx.com/tvu-channels.html?msnbc

(2) MSNBC WinMedia "live" video feed - http://www.lasvegasmixx.com/msnbc-live

Either "live" MSNBC video feed can be viewed in FULL SCREEN mode by double-clicking on the video image.

The MSNBC TVU video stream requires the TVU Networks browser plugin for either Firefox or Internet Explorer. Automatic install of the TVU plugin is a bit easier with Internet Explorer (even if I like Firefox much better.) Unfortunately, the TVU video stream does not work in Linux. The MSNBC TVU video stream seems to be more stable than the WinMedia video stream. The TVU stream uses P2P (peer-to-peer) technology which actually provides better quality and speed as more people connect to the video stream.

The MSNBC Windows Media (WMP) video feed works with default plugins already built into most web browsers and also works in Linux. The MSNBC WMP video startup is usually faster than the MSNBC TVU video startup. On the downside, the MSNBC WMP video stream is more likely to suffer from occasional "buffering" delays. Using more traditional "server-based" centralized streaming, the MSNBC WMP video stream works best with a smaller number of connections. Too many people connecting will increase the chance of overloading the server's ability to successfully stream video to those connections without interruptions.

2. Video Streaming - P2P peer-to-peer vs. conventional central server
In traditional server-based video distribution, the server PC must supply all the bandwidth for distributing video to all "client PCs". Too many "clients" can overload the server (hub) causing video to become choppy and even crash the server.

With a P2P peer-to-peer video distribution network, each PC both receives and sends pieces of video to other PCs on the network. So, unlike server-based video, P2P video actually increases in quality and speed as more PCs access the same video stream.

3. This works too!
...at least for now.

It's a shame that live stream links for MSNBC seem to be short
lived, or so it seems when one finds all those dead ends when
one does a Google search. Goodness knows one can find PLENTY
of links for Faux News though.
