Bride jilted at altar, turns Halloween-themed wedding into party for senior citizens
A jilted bride turned her heartache into a Happy Halloween for hundreds of senior citizens.

-----

Instead of letting a Halloween-themed wedding reception go to waste, Harris, 34, and her mom decided to move the festivities across the street.

"She came in one day and said she wanted to make a donation," said Eichenfeld. "I don't think she knew anybody here, and we don't get offers like that. So we were thrilled and so were our residents. It came out of the blue."

By all account, the bash was a blast. The wedding DJ played oldies. The tables were decked out with candy jars and feathered masquerade masks. The banquet hall served up a senior-friendly meal. And the guests dressed up as everything from Dracula to Raggedy Ann.

As for the bridal bouquet, Harris had it placed in the chapel of the old folks' home.

Good for her & maybe she's better off not marrying the jerk! BTW, she went to Hawaii on her own instead of wasting the "honeymoon" trip.

Teanne Harris, pictured during an earlier trip to Hawaii, returned to there for what was supposed to be her honeymoon.

Sounds good to me :-)

You go, girl. Much better off without him.

Oops I meant this as a reply to the turning fiance's head into a pineapple post.

9. Good to know that picture is from an earlier trip to Hawaii. For a moment there,
I thought she was all smiley because she'd used her powers of sorcery to turn the fiance's head into a pineapple. }(

13. Even if you're not jilted at the alter, giving the wedding flowers to a nursing home
is a good idea. We've done this several times.

14. You go, Teanne!
And remember, if he really did change his mind, better he should do it before the wedding than after. Divorce is way more heartbreaking and expensive than a called-off wedding.

He did you a favor as well as himself. Have fun in Hawaii, whether you meet Mr. Right there or not!

You go, girl!

She is a very attractive young woman, and obviously has a terrific attitude to go with it. Here's hoping she finds a real partner, when the time is right. In the meantime it looks like she's got her head screwed on straight and her priorities in order.

28. that's really sweet
I just hope she doesn't turn out like this later:

You contemptible pig! I remained celibate for you. I stood at the back of a cathedral, waiting, in celibacy, for you, with three hundred friends and relatives in attendance. My uncle hired the best Romanian caterers in the state. To obtain the seven limousines for the wedding party, my father used up his last favor with Mad Pete Trullo. So for me, for my mother, my grandmother, my father, my uncle, and for the common good, I must now kill you, and your brother.

30.  I ran out of gas.
I, I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts. IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD.

43. Oh she's so much better off not marrying the asshole
could you imagine the world she'd a been living in if this wedding had happened. What a sweetheart that she could turn this into a plus for all involved especially the seniors.

Someone somewhere is going to make a real find when they find, fall in love with and marry this sweety.

44. She is better off not being married to the guy, jerk or not he saved them both heartache
I know a couple who got married in spite of reservations on both sides, within the first year they were divorced. In fact, the groom wanted to back out because he felt that things between them were really bad and that perhaps getting married was a bad idea. His family and her family basically said, "You can't back out! We spent $20K on this wedding!"

So they spent $20K on the wedding and they were separated by the first anniversary because the bride had hooked up with someone else. (this was a trait she had while they were dating that was the key reason behind the second thoughts on the groom's part)

I hope Teanne will find happiness and I hope she is having a great time in Hawaii!
