As I sit in my nice house
covered by decent health insurance, surrounded by tasty Halloween candy and other food, I came across this article - sipping my tea, I thought about the 2010 and 2012 elections. My, won't the Democratic party do well?

"For those of you following the 2009 elections, I don’t have to tell you that Virginia–one year after voting Democratic for President for the first time since 1964–is about to sweep our most conservative Republican ticket in history to victory today. What you might find useful though is why–and how you can prevent something similar from happening in your state in 2010.

Some have compared this year’s election to the 1993 election that served as a preview for what would happen in 1994. I actually think things are a little bit worse. In the 1992 election, senior citizens were one of the best voting blocks for Bill Clinton–and of course seniors have excellent voting patterns and represent a larger share of the electorate in low turnout mid-term elections. That helped save a number of Democrats in 1994–like Lawton Chiles in the Florida Governor’s race. But in 2008, seniors were one of the groups with which Barack Obama struggled. The strongest groups for Democrats in 2008 were voters under the age of 30 and minority voters. Also known as the two groups whose participation historically falls in midterm elections. In Virginia this year, one poll showed the percentage of the likely electorate under the age of 30 falling 70% from 2008–and the African American share of the vote falling 39% from 2008! That’s why virtually every poll has shown today’s likely electorate as having voted for John McCain by double digits over Barack Obama in Virginia last year–despite Virginia having voted almost exactly the reverse."

I certainly won't care who gets elected, because I am 61 and me and my family are doing fine. We have watched Obama and the Dems, and I have been denigrated for pointing out the obvious. Now, I have decided to sit back, enjoy life, and vote for the odd candidate or 2 who appeals to me.

For those devoted to Obama and his Dem allies? I hope it all works out great for you!

12. Well deserved unrecs
Such trash deserves a beating.

My only regret is that we can't see the hundreds of unrecs for this trash.

3. I am smiling at your nice comment
it shows how thoughtful and intelligent you are, my friend. Did you read the article? Don't then, as it might upset your view that the Dems are protecting our interests. Such fine people.

6. You and your family can run but you can not hide.
Eventually you will be a victim of crimes buy those who are not as fortunate as you. Your young people will not have the advantage of the health care you take for granted. Good luck watching if one of them becomes un-insurable. It is not pretty. Enjoy your life. Don't forget to pick your head out of the sand every once in a while and breath.

7. but every time I look up
the Dems are making sure my kids' future will be great! They can both join the Army in Afghanistan, so they can get health care. They can invest allllll their money in the banks that are gonna be regulated. Then they can find a non existent job. Obama is making sure that will be their future.

10. I agree.
I'm at least as comfortably situated as the OP, albeit a decade or two younger, and I am well aware that not only am I ungodly lucky but those of us who are doing okay right now are unlikely to be that way in, oh, ten years, maybe less. That's all the more reason NOT to sit back and watch but to do every damn thing we can to fix the situation by whatever legal means are available to us.

Yeah, I'm moving my family to Canada as soon as we can disentangle ourselves (likely 2010), but that doesn't mean I'm turning my back on my fellow Americans, either. To witness evil and do little or nothing is a state of being I personally can't live in.

9. Simple message. If you want to win as a Democrat, you must sound and act like a Democrat.
Why Deeds couldn't figure this out is beyond me, But the old adage holds true: "Given the choice between a Republican and a Republican, the people will elect a Republican every time."

Thanks for the OP.

14. Minor note;
Truman said, "Given the choice between a Republican and someone who acts like a Republican, people will vote for the real Republican all the time."
