I'm back from voting.
I voted for the republican guy. No I didn't I'm just kidding.
I voted for Deeds.I'm glad he is pro gun rights, that made things easy. But, I'm not sure how much difference my vote will make.

1. Well, I'm glad you asked that question after you voted

rather than not voting because you felt it would not make a difference.

Thanks for this post.

6. I just shamed somebody into voting over that very reason.
"Get off your ass and go vote. Don't give me that bullshit because you're too lazy to drive down the road."

3. I'm going later, home sick today, could be the flu, could be a cold
could be a vacation day, but I need to do laundry so since the precinct is across from the laundromat, I'm solid.

10. He's better than the other guy, and that's what counts at this point
As a woman, I can tell you that I am horrified that McDonnell will likely be our next governor, and that Cuccinelli will likely be our AG.

Please VOTE.

7. I'm gonna go vote for Deeds in a little while.
I am hoping that:

1. That the McDonnell supporters will think it's in the bag and stay home
2. That Deeds will surprise me pleasantly while in office.

15. I know that McDonnell is about a 99.9% shoo-in and I hope some Dems learn from it
You can't out Republican the Republican. Deeds would have won had he acted like a Democrat. He said he would opt out of a PO and he distanced himself from Obama. He gave that 1/2 million first time voters in Virginia that turned out for Obama NOTHING and he turned off everyone else with his DINO stands. I almost decided not to vote for him, but then decided he actually seemed like a decent person (better than his campaign) and there was always a chance that he could pleasantly surprise me. So yes, I am turning out and voting for a DINO when I swore a little while ago I would never do that again. Plus, there's the rest of the ticket to worry about.

8. Voted around 9:30 am -- hardly anyone there except the GOP volunteers
I think it's going to be a sad day here in VA.

I cannot believe that Cuccinelli will likely win. I was overjoyed when he was selected as the Republican's AG candidate because I thought that he was so extreme that he would easily lose and negatively impact the entire Republican ticket.

Looks like we are going to have a lot of work to do...

11. Gun issues is one reason Cuccinelli is doing better than Shannon.
If Shannon would just shut up on that one he would pick up votes at least. But instead he is going to get clobbered by a bible thumper with an agenda.

12. Just back myself and I actually did vote for a couple of Repubs
Edited on Tue Nov-03-09 11:40 AM by tech9413
I was surprised myself but the Dem candidates had ethical challenges I couldn't accept. I was disappointed that there were no candidates for Election Judge or Inspector so I wrote in myself and a politically aware neighbor. I may have given myself a job I didn't need.

Edit to add: I'm in a pretty small rural precinct but turnout by 10:00 AM was about 10%. That gives me a warm fuzzy feeling that turnout will be great for an off-year election.

13. I'll go after work.
I had to turn the ringer off on my phone. Nothing but robo-calls, plus a few live ignorant morons for McDonnell harping about the evils of socialized health care.

16. I saw the Pope outside McDonald's on my way to vote.
There was this woman waiting for a bus outside a McDonald's dressed up all in white with this odd-looking white toque on her head and she had her hands raised in benediction and was saying something to the cars as we drove past. I was hoping she'd still be there when we came back, as the McD's isn't far from my polling place and the lines were very short, but apparently the bus had come. I'm sure the driver on that route had a lively trip on his way downtown. :-)
