I just voted to support Marriage Equality in Maine
I could of absenteed my vote earlier, but voting on election day has a nostalgic allure to me. I'm hoping by tomorrow morning, Maine will buck the national trend and be the first state to have Marriage Equality supported by the will of the voters.

Any Mainahs reading this that haven't voted yet, Vote NO on 1! Preserve Maine's Marriage Equality law.

3. My gut says that this will be close but a win for Equal Rights
I'm more optimistic at the start of this election day than i was for Kerry, but less optimistic than I was for Obama (whom I thought would have a near landslide).

The tide needs to turn against bigotry in this country. I'm hoping this vote will be a beach head for Equal Rights in the 21st century.

6. It did. Maine does very well on Equality issues.
With any luck, this will start a wave that continues to sweep on south. Equality for all Americans is the goal.

7. Locally, there are over 300 Maine statutes that refer to marriage.
These are rights not granted to same-sex couples that include things like hospital visitation, custodial rights of children if a partner dies and funeral decision rights. Voting "No on 1" will preserve Maine's marriage equality law and extend those rights to all committed couples in Maine.

10. Reading the comments this morning at BangorDailyNews.com
is both encouraging and disgusting. I honestly think Marriage Equality will survive, but the "Yes on 1" crowd is really hateful with their bigotry and they are making no attempt to hide it.

12. The GLBT community has waited to long for Equal Rights
This vote is so important because I truly think it will be a turning point against the tide of bigotry that too many of our sisters and brothers have had to endure.
