This should really get Limbaugh's Depends in a twist:
Lesbian makes history as Cubs owner

In a major development, the Chicago Cubs have become the first major-league sports franchise to have an openly gay owner.
On Oct. 30, the Ricketts family were announced as the new owners of the Cubs, buying the team, Wrigley Field and a share in Comcast SportsNet Chicago for $845 million from the Tribune Co, according to MLB.com.

Among the purchasers is Laura Ricketts, a lesbian who now becomes the first out individual to own a professional sports team, according to MarketToMarketLLC.com. According to ABC7Chicago.com, Laura, who lives in Chicago, is a member of the board of Lambda Legal, a national organization fighting for gay rights—including same sex marriage.

In an interview with MarketToMarketLLC.com, Laura Ricketts, who has a partner, said, "I came out to my family I would say early to mid 30's. I think for a long time I wasn't really out to myself growing up in Omaha, Neb., to a Catholic conservative family. It took me a while to come out to myself and not long after that I came out to them. I think that it really couldn't of been a better experience. They were all immediately supportive. ... I have been really really fortunate in that regard."

Pete, Todd, Tom and Laura make up the board of directors, with Tom as chairman, NBC.com added.

I know it's MLB and not the NFL. However, it's still a good poke at him.

1. WOW! She came out to her family in the 30's?
She must be in her 80's.

2. Unless that is snark,
you should have heard a loud whooshing sound over your head.

3. Smart Marketing...
Wrigleyville is in around the major GLBT center of Chicago. Always pays to make nice to the neighbors...especially if they're going to want to renovate the nearly century old Wrigley Field (its infrastructure is crumbling). Also a sign of solidarity with a very important part of the city. Kudos to her for speaking loud and proud...even from this White Sox fan.

5. Ah, the cubbies.
I could give two about sports, but my memories of firefly summers with the cubs and Harry Cary on the radio in the background will always leave me fond of the team. I am glad they will be pioneers in this manner.

6. that's good news
I'm a Cubs fan (sigh...) and see this as a good thing. However I hope she doesn't come across homophobic reaction as I know there were some cries of racism last year. Milton Bradley spoke openly about it and then there were these horrible Fukudome shirts with the slanted eyes.

Limbaugh can suck it! He's homophobic, racist and an all around lowlife.
