VOTE TODAY!!!!! GOP is counting on us NOT showing up.
We - Deomcrats, Liberals, Progressives - MUST show up and prove them wrong today.

Here in PA, 70 to 75% of registered voters won't bother to vote today.

Local elections affect your life every day - please at least show up and vote - we all will be better off.

Thanks.

2. Highly Recommended
Make the corporate media look like bigger fools...to DU'ers in NJ, NY, VA and anywhere there's an election today...it's these elections where your vote counts the most. Get out and vote. Also, if you can spare the time, phone bankers and drivers and unsung heroes. You'll be surprised after all the noise in the media that there are many who either didn't know the election is today or there even is an election. Here's hoping the unions come out big today...another group always underestimated.

6. Voted first thing this morning in Virginia.
There was not one single sign for the Democratic ticket displayed, while there were dozens for the repubs. What is up with that?? It feels like the dems just gave up.

7. Thanks for voting and thanks for letting us know. Dems are hard
to motivate, and the Republicans feed off this.
Gop represents maybe 25% of voters nationally, but they get out and vote.

Dems tend to stay home and complain later.

9. It just felt really odd these last few days.
Not only were there no signs up at my voting site, but it seems like McDonnell outspent Deeds in televison ads easily 2 to 1. In fact, the last two days, I think I rarely saw a Deeds ad on the tele. There was a person outside the voting site for both the repub ticket and the sole Independent that we had, but not for the dem ticket. I know that my area is largely conservative, but that was very disheartening.

15. Republicans are pouring money into these elections from all over the country
and from big contributers and corporations,so they can point to victories as a sign that the US is turning away from the Democrats. The whole focus is on the congressional races in '10 and even the presidential race in '12. They are MUCH BETTER financed than we are in terms of large blocks of cash.

10. Absolutely, voter turnout is usually very low in these off year elections
In my community all we have is school board elections so I am guessing turnout will be in the single digits, we need people from our side to show up because just a few people can tilt an election in these low turnout races.

17. Republicans on school boards really scare me - leads to banning books,
6000 year old earth and similar quack ideas in public schools, educating whole generations of kind in GOP/RW idiocy.

Really.

I can't agree with you more on the importance of voting in these elections.

22. We had them like insects in various school boards about 15 years ago -
not only took some books out of libraries, but the ones they approved were horrendous. Really nasty RW attack on culture, society and anything remotely progressive. Probably still crealing that shit out after all these years of posioning kids with their crap.

11. Since today's elections are mostly LOCAL
your vote actually counts more than it would in a state-wide, or nation-wide election.
As a 10 year veteran election machine custodian, I have seen local races won by as few as two votes.
Get out an vote. It's your civil duty.

Put my vote in for Panella and have my little "I voted" sticker. It bothers me that so many local offices have NO ONE running.

19. Voted in VA this morning
It amazes me how many of my neighbors fail to realize the importance of local elections. Then they complain about the issues that result. And believe me, we have had to deal with the results of right-wing conservatives being elected to the school board and board of supervisors.

None of these positions is on the ballot today, but our good Dem delegate has a "good guy" Republican challenger who just might unseat him. If elected, this "good guy" challenger will simply function as a tool of the extremists and help invigorate the right-wing local officials.

24. Voted in NJ--held my nose--voted for Corzine
To be perfectly honest Daggett might have had my vote if I thought I wasn't just handing the thing to Christie by voting for him. The NJ Democratic party is hopelessly corrupt and Corzine has done a lousy job.

On the other hand, Sean Byrnes, who's running for Freeholder in Monmouth County is my former neighbor and a genuinely decent guy. I also know his opponent personally and--let me put it diplomatically--it was a pleasure to vote for Sean.

I was surprised at how few voters were there at 10 a.m.
But maybe that's a good thing, since this is (puke :puke:) Christie Country.

Not thirilled with Deeds, but SICK at the thought of McDonnell. Fingers and toes crossed for a wildly unexpected upset.
