in my Dad's day unless you were from a weathy family. My "godfather", my dad's best friend, was asked to be a Jesuit because he was the heir to(I think) Sinclair oil! My mother said he was gorgeous and all the girls were hysterical when he graduated Georgetown and went into the seminary. He was a wild one too.Palled around a lot with the Kennedy's. Everyone loved to go to confession to him but threy siad it was hard to ask for absolution when he was there doing the same stuff with them. I have a step uncle who is known as the Jewish Jesuit as his dad was Jewish and he eventually became a divorce lawyer. Go figure.
Recently it was the Jesuits that came out and said they didn't think it was impossible that Jesus was married! Andrew Greeley is a Jesuit. A Georgetown education teaches one to question everything. The Jesuits are the intellectual arm of the Church. Many of our top pols are Jesuit grads. Clinton was , and the Shrivers and all the major pols are professors at Georgetown and Fordham.
