Has Obama raised anyone's taxes?
There's a certain morning radio show I listen to where one of the hosts is always going on about how President Obama has raised his taxes. It's not a political show, but one of the hosts is extremely right-wing and lately he's been really going on and on about how Obama is taking all his money. The thing is, to the best of my knowledge, President Obama hasn't raised anyone's taxes, right?

3. I guess he would either sign a tax bill into law or veto it like any othe president, but
for the life of me I cannot figure out how he gets away with saying this all the time. He said it again today to a guest who was an active Obama supporter during the campaign.

6. Don't forget the juice! That's what the commericals are describing it as, a tax on juice drinks
and soda.

18. Leave it to the RW fundies to raise taxes on the poor to save them from themselves and sins
no wonder so many hate the rw. They give money to banks and the rich, and want to punish the poor.

But hey, it is FOR them they do it, so I guess we should give them some kudos for trying to save them.

7. I don't know who did it
but taxes on cigarettes and alcohol have gone up. If this is Obama's fault, then yes, he raised taxes.

9. The only federal tax increase he has signed into law was for cigarettes.

No one has yet seen any increase in federal marginal tax rates, and in fact all workers have enjoyed a payroll tax cut through the stimulus.

10. He raised taxes on smokers (mostly poor) to pay for health care for kids - because no one else would
pay said taxes for health care.

The wealthy? well said taxes won't hurt them.

But hey, we all feel better now...

11. There's a great video on Brad Blog
Brad went to the teabagger event in LA last week and posted a video. He asks one person when did Obama raise your taxes and the answer he got: Well if he COULD he WOULD raise my taxes!

Another guy says Obama is taking away our freedoms and Brad asks which freedoms and the guy said 'Well he would take them away if he could!!'

19. Yeah, you do that. I was obviously refering to income taxes, not the type of taxes people choose
to pay by smoking.

15. And then there are other dems who really chomping at the bit to raise taxes on the poor
from sodas to fast food. In doing so we can help the poor to better live how we see as best for them, and the rich can keep on living how they desire as those taxes won't affect them.

Eventually, our preachers...err leaders, will get people to live a life pleasing to the god of money, health, and earth - but those who have wealth will be able to do all those things we see as bad as long as they pay a fee.

You CAN buy your way in to 'heaven'.

17. I remember him talking a good game about raising taxes on the wealthy and
making them pay their fair share - during the campaign.

But doing something about it? He'll have to get back to you on that one, Charlie.
