Serious question: which is worse, a rational conservative or an irrational conservative?

By rational, I mean people like Dick Cheney, Newt Gingrich, Dick Armey,etc.

By irrational, I mean people like Michelle Bachmann, Steve King, Tom Tancredo, etc.

Who would do more harm to the country, someone who is cold, calculating, and just plain evil like Cheney, or someone who is batshit crazy like Bachmann or Glenn Beck?

1. Rational because they can rally the irrational.

Which is why we are having so much trouble.

2. maybe the rationals that we can't see, behind the scenes.

3. I never felt like George Will or William F. Buckley would go Hutu on me and chop me up with

During the height of Bush popularity, that seemed like a very real possibility.
