Boehner Says There Are "No Excuses" To Delay Sending More Troops To Afghanistan

http://www.forextv.com/Forex/News/ShowStory.jsp?seq=1113896&category=Political+News

(RTTNews) - Following the announcement that Afghanistan has called off its planned run-off election, Republican House Leader John Boehner issued a statement Monday in which he said the Obama administration has "no more excuses" to delay sending additional troops to Afghanistan.

"Now that it is clear that President (Hamid) Karzai will remain in office, the White House has no further pretext for delaying the decision on giving General McChrystal the resources he needs to achieve our goals in Afghanistan," Boehner said in his statement.

He added, "General McChrystal has been clear: without timely reinforcements our efforts to deny al Qaeda and the Taliban a safe haven in Afghanistan may well end in failure."

President Barack Obama has been mulling sending an additional 40,000 (or more) U.S. troops to Afghanistan, but he has suggested he may wait for Afghanistan's run-off election to make his final decision.

4. Except for needlessly letting our troops be killed and letting them kill Afghan citizens.
Let the defense contractors get less in their bonus checks this year . . . .

5. There's no excuse for an orange "tan" or a lime green tie.
Maybe we should ask the country what it wants to do. Oh yeah, we did. A year ago. Boner lost.

without coming up with a new plan, strategy, etc! :eyes: Sure, there's more *strength* in numbers but that doesn't mean a lot in and of itself if you don't have a good plan/strategy for how to best utilize them. Thank G-D we have a President willing to "dither" a little bit and come up with some new ideas. Maybe if Bush had "dithered" more before committing ourselves to an invasion/occupation of another country (Iraq), maybe so many people, Americans and Iraqis, wouldn't have needlessly lost their lives. And then, when things got really bad in Iraq for us, Bush then "dithered" for approximately 2-3 years before "rethinking" our strategy there out of his fear of not looking "resolute" or "admitting a mistake". Oh, and when was Bohner worried about Afghanistan while we turned our attention away from there and began focusing (wrongly) on Iraq? Hmmmmm...........Do you suppose that he's only worried about Afghanistan now that a Democrat is POTUS? Nah, that couldn't be it............:eyes:

12. They can't wait to get more troops in theater so the casualty count
will go up. They look forward to piles of dead and injured coming home so they can use the human toll as a talking point in the next election. It's as simple and disgusting as that.

8. The war-mongers on the right demanding action now ignore that
it takes months to deploy troops, even after orders are made.

There is no need to rush into an increase. The rush should be the opposite.

9. Hamid Karzai staying in office is a pretty good excuse to hold back
or even pull out.

Why weren't these guys demanding more troops for Afghanistan when Dick Cheney was running the show?

10. The Boner wants Obama to be tied to a failed Afghanistan Project.
"There are no more excuses," Boehner said. "It's time for the Obama administration to give our commander on the ground
the resources he needs to protect our troops and achieve the goals the president has said he supports."

My :tinfoilhat: thought is that Boner and some republicans know that Afghanistan is no win project and wants Obama to
commit to a large force because when it gores bad "they" can blame Obama and the Democrats ..... bush blew our window
of opportunity in 2001 / 2003 by jumping to Iraq and now the Afghani people see us as an outside force there to control
the country and every new death just adds to the fact that we are in a no win hell hole. These fuckers are wiling to see
more Americans die to get back into power.

Other than a CYA effort by the politicians and generals to avoid admitting to another lost war.

14. I fully believe Moaner Boehner is essentially
brain challenged. He makes more stupid remarks than any other in Washington. I fully expect him to put on a military uniform, get a foghorn and walk up and down Washington streets yelling More War, More War. All he has to do is open his mouth and his stupidity shows.

16. OK, let's send Boehner. Since he's so smart and knows so much about war,
he can go. He should be the equivalent of dozens of troops. He isn't doing anything in the House right now, so they won't miss him.

Send Boehner.

Service/branch United States Navy
Years of service 1968 (medically discharged after eight weeks)

1968 ..... the height of the Vietnam war .... Boner choose the Navy rather than
get involved w/ the Army or Marines on the ground in Vietnam.

23. On Sunday Boehner said something worse...blaming deaths on Obama's delay
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0911/01/sotu.05.html
BOEHNER:
We've had the highest casualty totals in years over the last month or two. Why? Because all of the uncertainty around what the president's going to decide.

Surely even john "I love cheney" king wouldn't let Boehner get away with that! His reply to that crude statement?
KING: I want to talk to you about politics. You'd like to be the next speaker of the House of Representatives. And while much of the attention on this year's elections...

That's telling him King.

I thought that was a horrible comment to make, just nasty.
