Axelrod: Abdullah would have lost anyway, according to polls
Edited on Sun Nov-01-09 11:00 PM by majamay
David Axelrod today, on candidate Abdullah Abdullah's decision to boycott the upcoming elections in Afghanistan:

AP:"Senior Obama adviser David Axelrod said most polls showed Abdullah would have lost the runoff anyway "so we are going to deal with the government that is there."
"And obviously there are issues we need to discuss, such as reducing the high level of corruption," Axelrod said on "Face the Nation." "These are issues we'll take up with President Karzai.""

If you are an Afghani, in a country in the middle of a bloody war and distrust between groups, would you trust a man who goes to your house asking who you will vote for? How valid are these polls, and who conducted them? These polls were certainly not made by phone, as virtually nobody owns a phone of any kind in that nation. I've read that less than 10% even have electricity at all.

3. Please clarify what we're "rising above" here with this changey hopey new kind of politics.
How is this really all that different from our expansionist, imperialist days of yore?

This isn't meant as a challenge to the thread-starter; we're probably more in sync on this subject than not. I'm just annoyed at the supertanker of snake oil we keep getting peddled by the current administration.
