There are two columns in Week in Review that caught my eye today - the one about Grayson (That's Outrageous by David Herszenhorn), and MoDo's one on Obama's visit to Dover.
Maybe it is spending so much time on DU and TPM and reading so many discussions and articles that go into more depth and call out the BS better. The Grayson topic bothered me because it tends to do what the TV media does - make a moral/truth equivalent to both sides of the issue. There really should be only one point when comparing the Grayson comments to the slanted hyperbole that emits from nutcases like Bachmann. And it is that Grayson (and other courageous Dems, like Frank) are factually correct in what they say. The Republican nutcases twist, lie and distort in their lines. Yet the media covers it like either both sides are right or both sides are wrong.
On MoDo's column, she strikes me as being quite lightweight - the tone of her column is correct (Liz Cheney's blasting Obama while inferring that Bush went to Dover but didn't make a big deal of it - the lie, of course, being that he never went!), it never goes quite deep enough to me. Maybe it is that she isn't particularly deep, maybe she is trying to gauge her readers and tone down the outrage. But her column is a perfect chance to call out clearly and sharply the lies and distortions of the Liz Cheneys of the right - and it just isn't enough.
So, yet another Sunday morning when I am completely underwhelmed by what I am reading....and I turn to DU and TPM to find out what is really going on.
