I'm so damn sick of Fox getting the baseball postseason EVERY year
and blow-dried, smirky Joe Buck (he'll never be as good as his old man was), and Fox's superfluous graphics and hi-tech toys. Who cares!

I miss the good olden days when NBC got the World Series in even numbered years and ABC in odd numbered years. Scully. Garagiola. Gowdy. Cosell. Keith Jackson. Curmudgeonly old men. I liked it better that way.

2. That's the contract that was negotiated
When this current contract is a year or so from being completed, they'll negotiate a new one with the various networks. Could be ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox again, depending on who gives MLB the most money.

6. I laughed at one of Wanda's commercials.
She said "I'm pleased to announce I haven't slept with anyone on my staff yet."

8. Joe Buck annoys the hell out of me.
He's a smug little prick, building his career on his daddy. Notice how when he hands off to McCarver he looks at Tim for maybe 3 or 4 seconds and as if on cue or by some technique he follows, he'll look back at the camera and make his smirk. That's the moment when I'd love to jack slap his ass.

10. They suck. Buck and McCarver sounded downright depressed tonight.

After Matsui hit a home run, Fox showed a montage of Jayson Werth...

11. So, somebody has a man crush of Jayson Werth!!!
My goodness, Derek Jeter will be jealous now. My husband made mention about Fox covering the World Series. They've been covering it for years. I told my husband that it all came down to money. I know understand why I have to hit the mute button whenever Joe Buck is the announcer. Even with football, I have to hit the mute button whenever Joe Buck is on. Then you have Tim McCarver. Talk about making baseball seem harder to understand than it needs to be. He makes a ground ball sound like launching the Space shuttle into orbit.

12. I cannot stand the two of them.
Tonight they were blabbering about bowling and cricket...during a freaking World Series game! Not some mid-May afternoon game. I would listen to WCBS but to be honest, John Sterling kind of annoys me, and so does Suzyn. Sterling constantly gets worked up about fly balls and it pisses me off. I'll think it's a home run because he'll start yelling "IT IS HIGH! .... IT IS FAR! ...." and then "IT IS.....CAUGHT." He does this a lot.

Buck and McCarver are far more annoying though. I believe if you pay you can get the live stream on MLB.com with no commentary, but a) you gotta pay and b) I have a great HDTV, I don't want to watch some crappy web stream.

13. NYC Liberal LOL!
Tonite, we muted the TV and just watched the game! Sometimes TV Channel 9 in NY will carry regular series games, it's in Spanish, which we don't understand...but anything is better than listening to Buck & McCarver! LOL! Not sure if channel 9 will be allowed to carry the World Series games...but I'm going to check and see tonite. As soon as the game is over, we switch from Fox to the Yes network. We like their postgame coverage much better. Why does FOX have to carry these games? Ugh!

14. Is Suzyn the one who has the major league hots for Roger Clemons?
Edited on Sun Nov-01-09 03:43 AM by bumblebee1
Just curious. I don't have the luxury of WCBS.

16. Yes, this is what she had to say when he announced he was coming back to NYY:
"Roger Clemens is in George’s (Steinbrenner) box, and Roger Clemens is coming back! Oh my goodness gracious! Of all the dramatic things I have ever seen…Roger Clemens standing right in George Steinbrenner’s box, announcing he is back…Roger Clemens is a New York Yankee!"

15. The radio broadcast is lost without
Harry Kalas. He was truly one of the best! And I am not a Phillies fan. I really miss Skip Caray of the Atlanta Braves, my baseball team.

Another thread: Yes Suzyn W. did have the "hots" for Roger Clemens.
