According to the CBS Nooz just now on, this is the case.

I hear this and it only makes my see, once again, I did the right thing to leave these people far in my past. The God that I know is not exclusive on any matter. The issue is these absolutists who run religions.

I hope their money goes to a losing cause.

6. Absolutely True! Just about anything they touch brings their hatred with it. They need to
rethink what the F they are about. To me, all I see is misery and hatred from the catholic church hiding behind their fake religion, robes and hats. Oh, and pretty shoes...

5. According to the nooz report, the church itself. A priest (bishop? monsignor?) was interviewed.

8. Not that this couldn't be right but one priest isn't the spokesperson of the entirety church

(Course they won't exactly shut him up either...)

They need a Bishop or Cardinal (if it was one) to make it look like an actual movement the whole church is behind. There are a shit load of RW Catholic priests and organizations behind them that are not necessarily pushing church cannon. I've actually seen some somewhat gay friendly actions by some Catholic clergy...shit I actually know some gay Catholic clergy.

Now if the topic were abortion...I'd not be slightly skeptic.

10. I didn't see CBS Nooz, but there was a newspaper story a few days ago about it
"A campaign finance report released by the diocese Friday said the latest $152,600 was contributed Oct. 1-20 and came from its general treasury.

The treasury is made up of unrestricted bequests, interests and dividends, said Sue Bernard, a spokeswoman for the diocese. The money doesn't come from parish collection plates or the bishop's appeal, she said.

The contribution included $7,600 for in-kind services, chiefly two employees on leaves of absence to work on the campaign. An additional $11,700 came from individuals who earmarked contributions for the campaign.

In September, the church collected $86,000 from parishioners after a well-publicized appeal for collections at Masses."

11. Were I still RC, this would trouble me just for that -
going to a hate-filled cause, and to what end?

Are there no people in need of food? Of homes? Of care?

I don't understand the ethics that must be used to come to the conclusion that campaigning against marriage is more important.

18. Many white people had similar sentiments about the civil rights movement.
Why did blacks have to pretend it was a big deal to want equal rights? They could attend their own schools and sit in their own section of the bus.

:sarcasm:

19. Like Wanda Sykes said, "gay" is the new "black."
Being both, I assume she knows something of what she's talking about.
