poll numbers and lack of money...hmmm look what Fox News is reporting about money from the NRCC

Ken Spain, a spokesman for the NRCC, said Scozzafava will now release her supporters to vote for Hoffman.

That endorsement will set in motion phone banks, voter e-mails and other NRCC ground operations for Hoffman, GOP sources told Fox News, adding that the NRCC may also provide money for TV and radio ads if any slots are available and the campaign needs them.

Where was the money for the actual nominee of their own party????

BTW- notice that Ken Spain just declared that "Scozzafava will now release her supporters to vote for Hoffman" when she has done no such thing from anything I have read so far. Oh well, message sent--Fox News and the MSM will report it as fact now.

3. Scozzafava said she released her supporters
She didn't say she released them for Hoffman. When I read between the lines and focused on Scozzafava's emphasis on local issues, I think she wanted them to vote for the Dem.

4. I hope so. This is my district. Owens had it in the bag with the split.
Now it's up in the air. This is a very conservative stronghold in NY. They won't vote for a Dem. Hopefully Dede's fans will just stay home.

6. I didn't realize your district was so conservative.
I knew it was republican but I hadn't realized it's very conservative.

10. I suppose it depends on your definition these days.
All I know is bigotry, church and county corruption is the norm up here. And Republicans have had the seat forever, so if a conservative party member can make the Republicans throw Dede under the bus like I think has happened, then it says a lot.

11. ETA: we had some fairly large "Tea Bagger" rallies up here
In relation to the numbers I was seeing in other cities. A lot of Klan members at heart too if you feel me.

12. I lived on the Candian side of this area for a pretty long time...
It borders some of the most reactionary parts of Eastern Ontario, but at the same time, they're not as rock-ribbed as NY-23. Hell, some even elected social democrats to the provincial Parliament in 1990 and vote splitting among the right kept them Liberal for the better part of a decade. Now that the right is united federally, the centrist government Ontario has in power is losing credibility, and the left is no longer see as a credible provincial alternative, it will stay Tory for a while...

7. Here is her complete comment on it
“Today, I again seek to act for the good of our community,” Ms. Scozzafava wrote in a letter to friends and supporters. “It is increasingly clear that pressure is mounting on many of my supporters to shift their support. Consequently, I hereby release those individuals who have endorsed and supported my campaign to transfer their support as they see fit to do so. I am and have always been a proud Republican. It is my hope that with my actions today, my party will emerge stronger and our district and our nation can take an important step towards restoring the enduring strength and economic prosperity that has defined us for generations.”

9. She made a more complete statement in an interview
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x396746
She was pointblank asked if she was endorsing Hoffman. She did not respond yes.

She said she was releasing her supporters and wanted them to vote for "who they might want to represent them on issues important to the district."

That last part was key to me; the teabagger knew nothing about local issues when interviewed.

5. Hoffman has some big money behind him. The rethugs ditched Dede.
I see his ads on almost every website I go to. Even when I have to relog into DU.

8. Karl Rove's big goal was to have the most extreme elements in each party win
That way, nothing could really get done. I am certain Rove is still up to his old tricks.
