Does your hometown papaer have these names in print anywhere? Please take a minute to remind them.

Dear Editor,

We mourn the horrific loss of life at VA Tech. By week's end we will know each of the victims intimately. We will know their hopes, dreams, interests and family members.

Here is another list that we should also be mourning. Same age demographic and many of them hoping to earn enough to attend college one day.

Those who died in Iraq from April 8 to 14:

Ltn Philip Neel 27 Maryland
Sgt Todd Singleton 24 Muskegon MI
Sgt Harrison Brown 31 Prichard AL
Pvt David Simmons 20 Kokomo IN
Sgt Jesse Williams 25 Santa Rosa CA
Sgt Adam Kennedy 25 Norfolk MA
Spc Clifford Spohn III 21 Albuquerque NM
Pvt Brett Walton 37 Hillsboro OR
Spc Ismael Solorio 21 San Luis AZ
Pvt Brian Holden 20 Claremont NC
Pvt Kyle Bohrnsen 22 Philipsburg MT
Sgt Raymond Sevaaetasi 29 Samoa
Ltn Gwilym Newman 24 Waldorf MD
Cpl Jason Beadles 22 La Porte IN
Spc James Lindsey 20 Florence AL
Pvt John Borbonus 19 Boise ID
Cpl Cody Putnam 22 Lafayette IN
Sgt Larry Bowman 29 Granite Falls NC
Sgt Brandon Wallace 27 Festus MO
Spc Ryan Bishop 32 Euless TX
Cpl Daniel Santee 21 Mission Viejo CA

99 were seriously maimed.
70 wounded were returned to occupation.
I mourn this horrific, needless loss and would posit that we as a nation take some time to get to know these people, who they were and who they might've been.

1. Thank you, Sister.
Over the years of the war in Iraq, I have complained bitterly about the daily tally of death here at DU and the total absence of even stating their names.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

2. You are very welcome. These names and lives should be more of
an issue to the American consciousness. If they were, maybe we could get more people to agree about how senseless this war is.

4. I totally agree.
When we at DU try to use the ever-growing number as a club against the war, it doesn't work because it simply is too impersonal.

6. Thank you
I need to mourn.

Our local VA hospital is starting to see the quadriplegics in the rehab department from this bullshit war.

And you know what? Many of them will be shunted to long term care, or adult family homes. And forgotten.

7. Oh God. I've been so concerned about the head injuries, the amputees,
I haven't given much thought to para- and quadraplegics.

8. Dammit, what is so scary about agreeing with this? Or not? Why? nt
