Former bar employee sues, claiming she was told to discriminate
http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20091030/NEWS01/910300362/Former-bar-employee-sues--claiming-she-was-told-to-discriminate

The former director of promotions and marketing for Maker’s Mark Bourbon House and Lounge at 4th Street Live has sued the bar, claiming she was instructed by management to discriminate against African-American patrons.

Kiersten Trover-Gillam filed suit earlier this week in Jefferson Circuit Court, claiming management instructed her that it wanted a “predominantly white crowd” and that she needed to “keep out the darker element.”

...

Trover-Gillam’s “supervisors intentionally made her employment more difficult in an attempt to get her to quit,” the lawsuit says. Her “hours were reduced, she was given unachievable work goals and she was instructed to work but not clock in.”

When she told management she was uncomfortable with “racial profiling,” Trover-Gillam, who is white, was told “it’s coming from the head office,” according to the lawsuit. Maker’s Mark is owned by the New York-based East Coast Saloons, as is Sully’s Restaurant Saloon at 4th Street Live. A message left Friday evening for East Coast Saloons’ spokeswoman Liz Whittle was not returned.

Alive and well in New York, too, apparently.
