7. My favorite part:
Where they talk about the responsibility of radio stations. No lie you can't make that up.

4. don't bug me-
I need a couple of rubes to go with me and poke it with a stick--and it won't be easy to find anybody that dumb in New Jersey!

6. Again?
That was in '38. That farm in Grover's Mill is probably a Wal Mart parking lot now.

8. I listened to that today.
For the first time. It was a lot of fun. People are just as easily duped today as they were in 1938.

9. Listening to it now for the first time.
Wife asks: How could people not know the professor was Orson Welles?

11. I like the Sec. of the Interior coming on as THE official.
And, they sounded like they were in charge.

12. Yup, kinda sounded FDRish.
Did sound like an authority figure, but who the hell knows what the Sec of the Interior sounds like, right?

13. My dad heard the original broadcast from the beginning
most people did what Welles predicted they would...switch over to his show when the shows on the other networks went to commercial. That's when he timed his "breaking news" item.

14. I don't think he was that widely known at the time
IIRC, it was this broacast that put him on the map.
