what do you think Harry Reid would do in retaliation? (I'm guessing he would say, "There is nobody I admire more than Joe Lieberman and as long as he is with us on 10% of the issues he has a place iin our caucus").

P.S.
I also think that if the GOP threatens to filibuster that we should take them up on it and show the American people everything they are filibustering against from doing away with pre-existing conditions to caps on medical benefits. It's not only about the PO.

Then we need to pass the bill thru reconciliation process.

1. I'm still asking why in the hell he is in the Democratic caucus. He campaigned with Palin-McCain.
Health care is probably the most important domestic issue of this congress and Obama's presidency and he stabs us in the back when his support is needed.

2. I believe
that he made a deal with the Dems to keep his committee chairmanship, by promising to support them.

Now that he's reneged on the agreement, they should kick him out.

4. the problem is that he hasn't officially reneged until he actually votes to support a filibuster
so far he is saying he may do it if changes aren't made.

7. He has mused about supporting the GOP during the mid terms.

6. Or just keep him there, but limit everything he does as legally as possible.

"No, we love you Joe. We love you so much that we can't possibly let you take the lead on any issue."

3. Can't the Dems just use the Nuclear option?
Edited on Fri Oct-30-09 12:22 PM by MUAD_DIB
President Obama should just take this to the American people via tv and explain that this bill is too valuable to be shot down by the traitorous republicans. The democrats have tried to bring the republicans on board but the party of "NO" just wants to sabotage the USA and point fingers and accuse all the way up to the mid-terms.

Paint them as profit/corporate loving unAmerican partisans without any moral compass.

8. I think it's one of 4 things
1) He is the only dem who wants to filibuster. He does it and looses chairmanship
2) He is NOT the only dem who wants to. He does it to cover for the others and does not get punished.
3) He is the only dem who wants to. Reid has no spine so Lieberman does it and does not get punished.
4) He is just holding out for a bigger bribe (I mean earmark to help his re-election).

I'd bet on 4 with 2 being a possibility.

I can't see it going through reconciliation because of the limits and sunset. I hope it doesn't because it won't take full effect for 5 years and we will being going through the same thing 5 years after when the sunset hits (unless republicans have control that year in which case they will just let it expire).
