More is less
I just wrote this, on Obama's Af-Pak plans:

http://vastleft.blogspot.com/2009/10/every-1s-winner.html

And wouldn't you know, someone on DU already posted the spin:

"Obama considering scaled-down Afghan war"

They take us for fools. And why not?

1. Suck it up.
Put on your big boy or girls pants and learn that you don't get what you want especially when you vote for someone who tells you what he is going to do in a election and you don't believe him. No one deserves this more than the anti Af-Pak people for keeping their mouths shut during the election. But then you were to worried about a republican being in office so I understand.

2. Suck this up tough guy, you need the anti-war vote, both next year and in 2012
You don't get it, your precious Democrats go down in flames. At the rate that Obama is going with progressives and anti-war folks, I'm looking to stock up on marshmallows.

Oh, and since you seem like such a tough guy, and all happy with these illegal, immoral, indefinite wars of oil and empire, why don't you suck it up and go down to your local recruiter? Or are you just another keyboard commando, ready to cheer on the war from the safety of your chair?

3. Then the repbulicans win and we can have a war with
Iran. Yeah that's a great plan.

5. Or we have a war with Iran anyway,
Guarantee you that if Israel goes after Iran, Obama will go in along with them.

Meanwhile there's that recruiting office that's still waiting for you.

End these illegal, immoral wars now and bring the troops home. Or are you willing to continue expending our lives and treasure on a fruitless quest for oil and empire? If we continue to go down this road, we will do the same thing that the USSR did, fall apart because our military will have sucked down too many of our resources for our country to survive. Geez, we already spend more money on our military than the next twenty eight countries combined. Meanwhile we have people in our own country who are dying of starvation, lack of health care, lack of housing, lack of a caring government. But hey, you've got yours, so you'll just continue to cheer the war on because now it is being run by a Democrat. What a sad, pathetic partisan hack you are.

4. Oh, I believed him
The last thing I did was keep my mouth shut.

Here's why I voted for him:
http://www.correntewire.com/when_all_is_said_and_done

BTW, I don't have much reason to believe that Hillary Clinton would have been much better on foreign policy, but at least she's not held as above criticism from the left, which might have helped.

And what kind of role is that for citizens in a representative democracy, to "suck it up"?

8. Apparently you have a hearing problem then.
Because I know of several anti-war groups who weren't happy with Obama's stance on Afghanistan. But then again, all of this gets filtered through a MSM that is decidedly not looking to push any sort of anti-war POV.

You can go back in the archives here and find many anti-war folks who weren't happy also. Myself among them.

10. LOL, I think that you're misreading me, and the anti-war movement
Perhaps that will become painfully obvious in the elections of 2010 and 2012. Yes, I was willing to take a flier on Obama, hoping that he was trying to be a stealth liberal. I don't make mistakes like that twice, neither will the rest of the anti-war movement.

12. Ah, so your point is that if we voted for Obama, we have no right to criticize him
Or advocate for him to change his position. Sorry, but that's more akin to a Stalinist system of government than American Democracy. Very telling that you take this position, very telling indeed.

Again, that recruiter's office is waiting for you to pop by.

13. No my point is that you know what you voted for,
and if you didn't you were foolish.

http://www.barackobama.com/2008/07/15/remarks_of_senato...

"The greatest threat to that security lies in the tribal regions of Pakistan, where terrorists train and insurgents strike into Afghanistan. We cannot tolerate a terrorist sanctuary, and as President, I won't. We need a stronger and sustained partnership between Afghanistan, Pakistan and NATO to secure the border, to take out terrorist camps, and to crack down on cross-border insurgents. We need more troops, more helicopters, more satellites, more Predator drones in the Afghan border region. And we must make it clear that if Pakistan cannot or will not act, we will take out high-level terrorist targets like bin Laden if we have them in our sights.

Make no mistake: we can't succeed in Afghanistan or secure our homeland unless we change our Pakistan policy. We must expect more of the Pakistani government, but we must offer more than a blank check to a General who has lost the confidence of his people. It's time to strengthen stability by standing up for the aspirations of the Pakistani people. That's why I'm cosponsoring a bill with Joe Biden and Richard Lugar to triple non-military aid to the Pakistani people and to sustain it for a decade, while ensuring that the military assistance we do provide is used to take the fight to the Taliban and al Qaeda. We must move beyond a purely military alliance built on convenience, or face mounting popular opposition in a nuclear-armed nation at the nexus of terror and radical Islam.

Only a strong Pakistani democracy can help us move toward my third goal - securing all nuclear weapons and materials from terrorists and rogue states. One of the terrible ironies of the Iraq War is that President Bush used the threat of nuclear terrorism to invade a country that had no active nuclear program. But the fact that the President misled us into a misguided war doesn't diminish the threat of a terrorist with a weapon of mass destruction - in fact, it has only increased it."

14. Actually it was more a case of who I voted against
McCain I could have probably tolerated, but the thought of Palin that close to the White House is what changed my mind about going Green. Yes, I knew what Obama was saying, but I thought that he might be amendable to change. Apparently not.

But again, your implication is that if I voted for Obama, I should basically sit down and shut up. Sorry, but that's not how it works in this country. I have every right to agitate for change, as does every other person in this country. If you don't like that, tough shit, there are several fine dictatorships you can move to and find that sort of security blanket.

16. No, I'm one of those foolish voters who have voted for the lesser of two evils for far too long
Which usually means that I wind up voting for a Democrat. Sadly, as the years have gone by the Democratic party has consistently become more and more corporately controlled. I did this in the believe that the party would actually reward its liberal base with a crumb once in awhile. That's not happening anymore, so it's time to move on.

Let me guess, you're one of those folks who was against the wars when Bush was running them, but now it's all good because a Democrat is running them, right? Recruiting office, just down the road. Go.

I was for Afghanistan just like DK. I was against Iraq, but never did I think our troops couldn't do anything right they just had the wrong strategies from an Imbecile. Also keep posting that strawman of the recruiting office it didn't work with repbulicans and it's not going to work with those Democrats who support Obama on this decision.

How are going after AQ and Taliban NOW any different than going after Saddam in 2003?

It is the same. Imagined and ginned up threats against an fear-induced enemy. And, innocent people dead along the way. Shame, shame, shame.

I have had relatives in Afghanistan, too. My brother-in-law's humvey got hit by an IED. He admits they are in a no-win situation. He knows the Afghan people will NEVER trust us. We are killing for killing sake. I wish you cousin the best, he is in hell on earth right now. It is odd you cheer him on so much.

I have a different opinion does that make it any less valid? I don't think so. I'm sorry for his trouble and thank him for his service. I don't fucking call him cannon-fodder or make up shit to suite my purposes. My family is their now and they are following our commander in chiefs orders. I think a lot of people need to get their minds out of the Bush years and try to look at things from a different perspective instead of thinking that all of us for further action are a bunch of warmongering sadists.
