Levi Johnston appeared on CBS' Early Show Wednesday, where he explained his reasons for spilling unflattering information about the Palin family and said he was keeping some "huge" secrets.

Among other things, Johnston said Palin joked about her son Trig's Down Syndrome, calling him her "retarded baby."

"I was just in shock the first time I heard it," he said, when host Maggie Rodriguez expressed disbelief. He also said Bristol took care of the baby much more than her mother: "Sarah was never home."

Johnston also said that Todd and Sarah would fight in front of their kids.

He said he was going public because the Palins betrayed him and backstabbed him: "I really don't care anymore ... Now it's my turn ... I told a little bit of stuff, and you know, I'm just not going to take it anymore."

"If she's going to go out there and say things to me, about me, I'm going to leak some things on her. I mean that's just how it is," he said. He added, however, that there are some things he won't say that would really hurt Palin. "I'm not gonna go that far," he said.

4. My impression was that he was "firing a warning shot"...

...either to draw out the highest bidder, to intimidate Palin into shutting up, or maybe both.

Who knows, but it seems like he's smart enough to know the clock is winding down on his 15 minutes and he's wringing it dry.

threatening some big scandal and when it was released after her suicide (and yes I believe she killed herself vs. going to jail) it turned out to be mostly small fish and a bunch of policy wonks that the public had never heard of.

17. Anything that can demoralize the ultra-conservatives who supported her

is fine with me. If Palin doesn't like the exposure, then she shouldn't have thrust herself into the limelight by running and by continuing to appear in public. Maybe that sounds mean, but I still remember the things Palin said about Obama and the Democratic Party at the Republican National Convention and my hatred of her is still vivid.

If he's going to let stuff out in dribs and drabs he really needs to keep it consistent and tempered. The excitement of the limelight may cause him to "embellish" it in his own memory, and the more outlandish he gets the less he will be believed. Especially with nothing but his own word to back up what he says. If he's going to say Palin came on to him, or one of the younger girls is fooling around, or Palin had an abortion scheduled and cancelled, or that Todd plays for the other team--whatever tales he tells, he would be far better served if he had something concrete to back it up.
