so who runs the united states of america?
corporations -- i/e/ banksters. finansialists, insurance companies, energy -- or --

the elected representatives -- prez, reps, senators -- of the elected bodies?

is this republic irredeemably compromised or can stars like obama or grayson save her?

my own thoughts lie along lincoln's -- a house divided -- the house is divided -- period -- it is compromised and taken over.
with kick starts that resemble representation.

what are yours?

1. There has always been an intention to balance the interests of the economy with those of the people.
And over the past most recent decades, the balance has been increasingly lost.

10. lol, "this thing I talk about"...
:P

Well, any of the federal agencies is supposed to work that way; USDA, FCC, Patent Office.

Let's take the Patent Office for example.

The balance is this:

A Patent protects the intellectual property of the inventor.

In return, the inventor has to fully divulge the invention for the use by others in the economy to further the science.

USDA: Protect consumers while promoting the industry.

Dept of Interior: Protect the people's property for perpetuity while harvesting some of it's resources for the economy.

Etc, etc...

3. The National Security Complex
aided and abetted by those who win the financial rewards game

In large degree they are intertwined, making it virtually impossible for any individual, including the president, to be very powerful.

11. it's money, money, money
back in the 60's, I used to think if we could all "fly together" peace and understanding would make the usa a good Country. In the 70's as Vietnam's horrors became more and more evident, and Richard Nixon resigned in shame and later the decent peaceful president, Jimmy Carter, was mocked and taken down by the actor and his greedy coharts, dissolution in the usa's goodness began to take over my thoughts. Reagan cut taxes for those most able to pay, cut services for those who needed them the most...well, we found out the president had dementia so who was really running the show? those with the money...

there was some hope that Clinton would be a good leader, but as he and the wall street crowd that surrounded him bought into every Republican bill put before them, and yeah, I know lots of dems don't agree, but in my humble opinion his disgraceful behavior while sitting as the head of the usa, the good Country sank to an even lower place. watching him chumming it up with the Bush family just makes him even more creepy.

our elections are phony...whoever raises (gets bought off) the most cash wins. Corporations never were known to care about anything except the bottom line and with lobbyists to write laws that guarantee their ability to flourish or take down anything in their way, how can they lose. Insurance and/or healthcare providers don't care about insuring or health - it's all about the money.

whoever or whatever has the most money runs the show. we're all just the puppets here for their amusement.

and power that has no loyalty or ties to this country.

our political servants are tied to money with power.
they don't make as much as those in the afore mentioned list -- but those in the afore mentioned list have more power and influence.

those in the afore mentioned list will take a hit to their pay to work in gov.

18. So far in my personal research it's mostly Barclays and a handful of private
investment groups, ala Carlyle Group - at least they seem to be the ones holding the actual money when you dig through the who owns what stock maze. I will confess that I'm not quite at the end point in my search yet.

The American people are uninformed about the present, improperly educated about the past, and fed toxins from the day they can eat solids (sometimes even before). I'm not sure they could fight back if they wanted to, they lack the mental armor and physical energy. They are far too busy trying to survive and/or get the next big thing that makes them an equal human with their neighbor to look up long enough to see the shadow. It's ridiculous. We live in several different apparently custom-made worlds.

Have you ever seen Century of the Self?
