Would you continue to support a Democrat that votes against the public option??
There are rumors, and Republicans are hoping, that Democrats like Mary Landrieu, Ben Nelson, and Blanche Lincoln might vote with the Republicans to kill healthcare reform - by voting against the public option. Would you still vote for these Demcrats if they were in your state?

In the past, they could depend on the vote of the base. Now, I'm not so sure. If they think they can make up in Republican votes what they would lose in Democratic votes, they might consider voting against it. Otherwise, it would be like signing a death warrant for their political future. Or they could switch Parties? They don't have a lot of options if they vote against their Party.

5. Feingold needs to understand...
that this is an evolving process. The finished product will be much further down the road. I hope he votes with the Party on this one.

8. With the polarization of political views (and the frightening direction of the right wing)--
I must say I'll take a terrible Democrat over a republican any day.

9. Better to replace the bad Democrats with good ones
Sometimes, bad Democrats are the "alternative." We've been through eight years of "alternative" and don't have the stomach for it anymore.

17. too soon to resume the circular firing squad

The alternative to the last 8 years has only been in place a short time.

7. No.
Why bother? May as well vote for Repukes.

I would vote for them only if their opponent had a chance and had politics like Michelle Bachmann's.

11. Certainly not in a Primary. But against a repub (or worse a libertarian)..
in a general election I will vote for the Dem every time.

Those three have to be replaced with real Democrats.

12. Aren't they supposed to be voting for what WE want? Have they forgotten about us?
If a Dem votes how his/her constituents want, can't find fault with that. But I don't think they listen to us any more.

14. Not in the primaries
I'll contribute to any Democrat who opposes them.

In a general election, I'd be trapped, though. There is no way on this good earth that I'll ever vote Republican.

16. I thought one of my Senators voted against a PO amendment
but MSNBC was forced to issue a retraction the next day.

I'm lucky in this state, every Rep. and Senator is a Democrat and all but one are decent Democrats.

However, I inherited wisely. I know who the Blue Dogs are and I will be contributing to their primary opponents next year.

23. No no a thousand times no
and that is why I am beside myself that our Democratic contender gubernatorial here in Virginia announced that he would "consider" opting out of the public option. I feel like I am between a rock and a hard place.

25. Continue? I wouldn't have supported him before if I knew.
But then, here in North Texas, my support, or non-support, for a Dem doesn't seem to mean much, anyway.

26. No, and I have already told Bill Nelson's office that I won't
Problem is whether we can get a Democratic candidate strong enough to go against he with a chance to win in this district gerrymandered to favor conservatives. Last time, the choice was between Bill Nelson and Katherine Harris, so I held my nose and voted for Nelson.
