LA Times - "Insurers poised to win big" - final plan may protect industry's interests,
a result of a years long strategy for shaping the out come.

http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-health-insure26-2009oct26,0,757790.story

just copying this from the front page of today's paper (Monday Oct. 26th) link leads to article which says in part (paraphrasing):

-most likely plan protects corporate interests
-capstone of sophisticated lobbying effort begun before Obama elected
-millions of Americans will now get insurance paid for by taxpayers
-likely no limits on what insurers can charge
-plan expected to limit competition from any new government plan
-army of lobbyists
-millions in campaign contributions

will this industry go on the welfare gravy train or will any government plan actually benefit people more than bloated corporations who waste hundreds of billions of client dollars (according to a study that came out today, search for it on KOS if u wish).

Stay tuned.

2. The Public Option Charade
The kicking and screaming about the Public Option has been a pretty shiny object to wave around so that the other things that were going in the bill don't face scrutiny and debate.

6. I think I had a pretty good OP
on the mandate issue yesterday. The most controversial issue of the primary is hardly talked about in the media. Everything is focused on the Public Option.

For the first time in our history the government is actually debating mandating citizens to purchase a product from a private corporation.

Seems like kind of a big deal to me.

3. Before anyone gets too excited- the LA Times has been full of shit
throughout this whole process. I wouldn't trust their "facts" any more than Fox "news" these days.

supporting the thesis presented in the title.

Lot's of opinion and conjecture though.... a whole lot.

Wow, took me four tries to get this post right. I hate going to the dentist, but Vicodin almost makes it bearable.
