2. Seems to have been written by a right-winger.
All the phraseology is written to put right-of-center ideas in a positive light and left-of-center ones ideas in a negative one.

3. And here I was thinking it was created by a leftie, because the language . . .
Made the rightwing opinions appear unappealing. Interesting.

4. Not necessarily
I think the language is pretty fair - certainly not Luntzish
Also, this was done by a Brit and so cultural differences may enter into it

here's a quote from the author:
Researching this showed me that, despite my inevitable journalistic lean to the ‘left’, I am actually a bit more ‘right’ than I suspected.

6. It seemed pretty fair to me but
the main problem I saw was conflating economic and political positions. "Communism" is not the extreme of "liberal" political beliefs because communism is an economic system and liberalism is a political one. "Communism" is not the opposite of "nationalism", it's the opposite of capitalism.

So I think the political compass is a little more accurate.

7. The right wing position is "don't interfere with social lives"? Bullshit. nt

11. That's my point about conflating economic and political positions.
Economic conservatives don't believe the government should interfere with social lives while social conservatives obviously do (in their stances on abortion, pornography, marijuana, etc.)

So you can't have an accurate description of either liberalism or conservatism if you don't recognize the difference between economic liberals/conservatives and social liberals/conservatives.

8. A concept-map exploring the Left vs Right political spectrum.
the author admits that this is only a "concept":

Of course, the political spectrum is not quite so polarised. Actually, it’s more of a diamond shape, apparently. But this is how it’s mostly presented via the media – left wing vs. right wing, liberal vs. conservative, Labour vs Tory. And perhaps in our minds too…
This kind of visual approach to mapping concepts really excites me. I like the way it coaxes me to entertain two apparently contradictory value systems at the same time. Or, in other words, I like the way it f**ks with my head.

that we see it was all lies.....the right are doves and the left are hawks and support war. What escapee from a mental institution wrote that chart.

The red/blue is swapped because this is from a UK perspective so red = left, blue = right.

(although I have to say I do not agree with the left right theory of politics).

15. If this is a UK product, then our left is their right. Both parties are more
progressive than ours.
