Fascists for Small Government
They told us they believed in small government. To them small government meant illegally wiretapping the phones of tens of millions of Americans. It meant invading countries which posed no threat to our nation on false pretenses and killing hundreds of thousands of civilians. Small government was about imprisoning people without charges and subjecting them to torture. It was about building about the most massive military power this world has ever seen and then stretching it out to it's breaking point. Yes, this is what the fascists considered to be small government.

But of course when they spoke of small government they preferred not to focus on their torture or their illegal spying, no instead they told us we had too many regulations on business. In other words we had too many laws designed to hold corporations accountable. They told us that the market would help business to regulate itself and we didn't have to worry about accountability because if a company put out an unsafe product and people died their sales would go down. After all, if you are dead you can't buy their product any more now can you?

But of course merely cutting back on regulations which hold corporations accountable to the law is not enough, they also wanted us to privatize our government services. You see if corporations only ran our schools, our hospitals, our utilities, our transportation system, our elections, and everything else under the sun they would not have to deal with the giant government bureaucracy any more. Better yet they would not have to deal with the people either. You see right now the people have too much influence because of a little inconvenient thing called democracy, but corporations are not accountable to the people they are only accountable to the shareholders. So in order to get small government you don't actually get rid of government instead you privatize government, you steal it away from the people and you hand it those who can not be held accountable by voters.

That is the Republican vision for small government, it is not a conservative vision it is a fascist vision. It is a vision in which war is peace, ignorance is wisdom, slavery is freedom, black is white, up is down and George Bush is President of the United States.

Over the past several years the Republicans have been implementing this vision of small government and as a result we have seen the shredding of our Constitution. We have seen the deaths of thousands of our own and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians. We have seen an empire with the most powerful military in world history stretching itself thin. We have seen torture, we have seen spying, we have seen billions upon billions looted from our treasury, we have seen activists spied on, we have seen a massive Department of Homeland Security watching over us, we have seen The Office of Total Information Awareness, we have seen the biggest wiretapping scandal in history, we have seen the destruction of our environment, we have seen more than any generation of Americans have ever seen. We have seen what the fascist's vision of small government looks like, and it is the biggest government I have ever seen.

1. However corporations are not accountable to the people they are not accountable to the shareholders
Remember they do not have to reveal their compensation schemes to the shareholders either.

In the NeoConvicts world Corporations are accountable no no one.

That is except for a few selected insider trillion aires.

3. Yep, this is what fascism looks like...
Now I just wish people would stop using the word conservative and call it what it really is.

4. I guess what they REALLY meant by "small government"...
Edited on Wed Apr-18-07 07:26 AM by ck4829
Was that a small group of people would control the government, an oligarchy, which is what the Bush Administration wants to be.

6. You have hit the nail on the head. Government is the PEOPLE'S corp.
Government provides the only voice for the people to be heard over the well funded din of the corporations. Government is the Citizen's Lobby, when it's running properly.
