Big in Japan: Burger King Sells Windows 7 Whopper
Things always seem over the top in Japan, from the cartoons to camcorders and cell phones. It's almost no surprise that Microsoft has partnered with Burger King to sell a gigantic hamburger there.

The Windows 7 Whopper consist of seven stacked beef patties that measure over 5 inches in height, and the whole thing costs an appropriate ¥777 (or $8.55). It's available for seven days only, completing the run of sevens.

Microsoft is hoping for a fresh start with Windows 7, after a poor reception for the Vista, the previous version of the software that runs most of the world's personal computers.

The site notes that the Windows 7 Whopper weighs in with about 1,000 calories, and likely packs enough cholesterol to require immediate surgery for anyone foolhardy enough to try eating one.

12. not at all
japan has always borrowed from other cultures. it's part of what has made them so successful.

did japan corrupt the US because sushi is now popular here?

of course not.

implicit in your post is that US culture is somehow inferior (the only kind of american exceptionalism that is common at DU), and therefore by adopting aspects of US culture, japan has been corrupted.

typical

2. Here's what the folks on Flyer Talk thought about it

By the way, kikan gentei means "for a limited time," and shinhatsubai means "new on sale," while a kinen baagaa is a "commemorative burger."

6. This guy has the right idea...
"We should wait some months for ChroM OS burger. It is free."
MOSburger's specialty is that lovely thin sliced yakiniku with red lettuce between two flat-grilled rice patties. It's to die for.

Dear Lord, I miss Japan.

9. Lucky, lucky, lucky
Ordinarily, I'd advise you to "misplace" your passport while you're over there. Meager living handing our flyers in Akihabara or somesuch is still richer and more interesting than nearly anyplace over here, but you already live in one of the best places in the country.

One thing not many know is that the Japanese are every bit the gourmands the French are. Even the bentos at 7-11 are miles above fast food restaurant fare here.

I'd better stop now, I'm getting misty :D

11. Don't tempt me
I'm stuck here for the time being, but I've got a couple of schemes for spending some time over there.

For all its problems, Japan is thinking about the future. I've translated dozens of corporate reports every year for 15 years, and every single one boasts about how the company has increased its energy efficiency, recycled more, and reduced waste.

That's just one example.

3. Windows 7 requires a massive 1GB of RAM and 16GB HD space. Whopper7 requires a 300LB human and
50 cubic meters of free stomach space...

And even then, that's not enough - for either of them...
