Stricter gun control after shootings at U.S. university — not going anywhere fast
Give it up people... this whole righteous outrage and calls for stricter gun control laws isn't going anywhere...

WASHINGTON: After the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, Harry Reid, leader of the Senate's Democratic majority, cautioned against a "rush to judgment" that stricter gun control might be necessary.

"I think we ought to be thinking about the families and the victims and not speculate about future legislative battles that might lie ahead," said Reid, a view expressed by other Democratic leaders the day after the shootings that left 33 dead on the campus of Virginia Tech.

Democrats traditionally have been in the forefront of efforts to pass gun control legislation, but there is a widespread perception among political strategists that the issue has been a loser in recent campaigns. It was notably absent from the agenda Reid and Rep. Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the House of Representatives, began promoting this year when the party took control of the House and Senate for the first time in more than a decade.

In the aftermath of Monday's Virginia Tech shootings, in which 33 people died including a 23-year-old student identified as the shooter, a few Democrats renewed the demand for gun control legislation. More are expected to join them.

2. If they pass another AWB, then kiss Congress goodbye
Gore lost votes in TN and WVA on gun control during an election held only a year and a half after Columbine. I don't think that this shooting will lead to a surge of support for more gun control.

4. Passing an AW ban in response to a shooting that didn't involve an AW...
would be the stupidest thing I could imagine. Hopefully we'll steer clear of that.

7. I advocate Bullet control. Guns are harmless. It's the ammunition
that's so damaging.

Put an empty gun in a moron's (or criminal's) hands and it's harmless without ammunition.

8. Here's the deal. How many votes do the Dems lose to the Repos by not
passing gun control, and where do they lose the votes? (and the reverse how many do they gain)

How many votes do the Dems lose to the Repos by passing gun control, and where do they lose the votes? and the reverse.

If you think about it, it's a no brainer.
