What gets me about Fox
Why don't they unequivocally call themselves the conservative news source rather than the "fair and balanced" one? There is no way to deny it, so why don't they wear it like a badge of honor? Why one earth do they think that would cost them even one viewer?

1. Marshall McLuhan said it best...
All media exist to invest our lives with artificial perceptions and arbitrary values.

4. Bingo...
Those that control the medium determine the language...you suspend belief and agree...groupspeak at it's finest. McLuhan would be both amazed and impressed with how faux took his work and turned it inside out.

2. This one is easy
To prove they are conservative they MUST be hypocritical. It's like the mark of Cain.

3. All of the Administration's complaints just
plays in Faux's hands, it makes them a victim and helps make their case that everyone else is the liberal media. The more the Administration complains the higher their ratings go. All this is doing is enforcing their loyal viewers belief that they are "Fair and Balanced" while all the hoopla is giving them free advertisement. I agree with Paul Begala, last night he said the Administration should have just been quiet about it and shut them out, by all their protests they have only helped Faux. This was a stupid move for the Administration IMHO, it has never worked to pick a fight with the media even if you are right. Except for maybe MSNBC the rest of the media is circling their wagons and defending Faux.

6. You're Seeing Why...
Notice how many other corporate mediatypes are riding to faux's defense. It's cause they all operate under "the big lie"...as does the government. Their jobs aren't to report as it is to "interpret" or more specific spin. As corporate entities, these "news organizations" aren't interested in reporting facts as much as stirring the pot to draw ratings and revenues. Thus marketing is the key...put out the slogan and then use it as a shield (along with the first ammendment) when you're called out on it.

Surely a majority of "journalists" inside the beltway know what faux is and does. Some are afraid to attack as they see murdoch as a future boss and don't want to mess up their next gig. Others see the corporate media as infallible...any attack, especially by the government, is seen as an attempt to censor or regulate...even if means defending what is a blantantly biased network.

The "fair and balanced" mask was ripped off of faux by Al Franken. If the corporate media didn't realize it then, why bother now?
