I had to come back to DU to regain my sense of sanity.

I went to the barber today at lunch with hubby. It's an old fashioned barber shop and has 2 chairs. There was another man there getting his hair cut and he starts in on religion. Apparently he is a Pentacostal minister who is moving over to 'planting' Assembly of God churches. He thought his calling was more 'planting' startup churches rather than preaching.

During his convo with the lady cutting his hair, he started preaching that Muslim's are heathen, you have to believe in Allah and live by the Koran, people 'over there in India' will kill you - shoot you in the mouth - for preaching/mentioning Christ's name." Sounds like we have our own version of that over here, so I don't know what his problem was. Let's see -- and the one that ***REALLY*** took the cake, was "You know we're God's children. It's been proven. Science goes hand-in-hand in supporting the Bible. Even our DNA is made up of structures that resemble the cross that Jesus died on. It's been proven by science that the earth stood still and even backed up time when Hezekiah challenged God."

After he left, the barber apologized to us and thanked us for not leaving. She needed the work since her hubby is self-employed in the tiling business and work has been almost nonexistent for him. I told her I figured I was safer there since I was so close to having a stroke from my BP going up. The ER is right across the driveway.

Sooooo, this guy is 'planting churches' -- Palin's churches. Scary stuff people. Thank goodness he didn't cross into dissing on the Presbyterians. I don't think my hubby would have stayed in the chair. Actually, if the barber hadn't have been using the clippers on him, we both may have bolted out of there.

Anyway -- Thank you DU for being here!!!

you never know when one of them is going to go flat out berserk, all puffed up with "teh Holy Spirit" like this guy is. A lot like watching a train wreck!

3. He is lucky the hairdresser didn't do some accidental "clipping" of something other than his hair.

Why do these fanatics assume that others want to listen to their mad ravings????

I have a girlfriend who cuts hair and she would have tossed him out so fast his head would have been spinning...

8. Oh I forget the name of that place in Missouri.
It's on the tip of my tongue. I live in Oklahoma so kids either traveled to Missouri or went to Oral Roberts in Tulsa.

5. Sounds like the churches
this guy is planning to plant will be watered with intolerance an hatred. We don't need any more churches like that around. Hope his seedlings wither and die.

9. They are building up their reward in Heavan.
The more churches planted and revivals held the bigger their mansion. No really, that's what they believe.

11. since when does the double helix resemble a cross?
I've think that the double helix ought to be the symbol for humanists and atheists. Very appropriate.

15. Allah is Arabic for God
It is used by Arabic speaking Christians and Jews in reference to God.

Maybe this minister should plant brain seeds because he sure needs to grow one.

17. I know WAY too many people like this, way too many.
Luckily, I've moved away from them, or they from me. But they have found me on Facebook and post their drivel there daily, and these are relatives of mine. Hard to unfriend them, but I'm close to doing that with a couple of them. Right now I'm having some fun playing with their minds. ;)
