Don't let 'em. Remind the ones you have to associate with that this is what the Republican party has become. It makes them wonder to themselves if they really want to be associated with these wackadoodles.

Take my word on this one.

Conservatives roar; GOP trembles

Many top Republicans are growing worried that the party’s chances for reversing its electoral routs of 2006 and 2008 are being wounded by the flamboyant rhetoric and angry tone of conservative activists and media personalities, according to interviews with GOP officials and operatives.

Congressional leaders talk in private of being boxed in by commentators such as Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh — figures who are wildly popular with the conservative base but wildly controversial among other parts of the electorate, and who have proven records of making life miserable for senators and House members critical of their views or influence.

Some of the leading 2012 candidates are described by operatives as grappling with the same tension. The challenge is to tap into the richest source of energy in the party — the disgust of grass-roots conservative activists with President Barack Obama and their hunger for a full-throated attack on his agenda — without coming off to the broader public as cranky and extreme.

6. Are they really moving away ?
I'm not sure after all they are keeping the roads busy with that big bus they are now using. Speaking to their base in the south.

9. The Republican party has nothing to run on
The war on terror won't do anything for them. They have nothing for health care. They have a message on entrepreneurship and low taxes, but they don't know how to promote it.

Birthers, Deathers and the the Snake Handling religious right are chasing off moderates, aka RINOs. Discussion of RINOs on Freerepublic is scary; RINOs are the traitorous near enemy that must be destroyed.

The outcome of this purge is more blue dogs democrats.

19. Interesting point.
As the RINOs flee their party they become DINOs. We have to protect ourselves in the primaries.

17. Cue Rush Limbaugh
Time for that drugged-up pedophile to scream about how the GOP is afraid of him even though he's the best thing that ever happened to him and that he represents real republicans. Then Michael Steele will publicly kiss his ass, and the cycle will repeat.

The anti science wing of the Republican Party has a strong link to Creationists (anti=Evilution), Rapturists (anti environmentalism, global warming mitigation - why save the earth if it is going to be destroyed anyway?)and Dominionists (anti separation of church and state)
