Recommend, if you smoke pot CURRENTLY....no matter how little or much...

You don't even have to comment or kick, recommending will be your Yay vote, so you don't even have to have your username show.

Oh, & since I can't recommend my own post.

Parents are on my ass to try to get me to quit... I'm going to go the "legal path" in Janruary and get a scrip.

MMJ is legal here in denver. Hell, you can possess under 1 ounce of MJ legally.

In the second complaint, a consumer with allergies and sensitive skin stated that he used Aveda products because they claimed to be all natural. He noted on the label that the product contained ingredients, such as, ammonium laurel sulfate and PEG 7-dimethicone.

"When the consumer contacted Aveda, the firm stated that all ingredients in their products are derived from plants, but the consumer's research showed that these ingredients to be chemicals, not plant derivatives."

The company responded that it makes no claims that their products are all natural. Bernard Perry, VP of quality assurance, was reached by telephone on May 5 for an update, but he stated that he could not comment on any internal matters involving Aveda.

I've been using them for over 5 years. I have terribly dry skin & with daily use of their Rose Mosqueta toner, my dry skin is now silky smooth & many days I can go without moisturizer. And they have formulas for all skin types, Here's their website, but many health food stores also offer them.

Also, I have a friend with Rosacea & she's been using the Sea Buckthorn formula & her skin is clearing up. There are lots of reviews of their products, too.

When I was younger, I had horrible acne because of all of the skin oils I would produce. Now that I am 38, I look like a teenager (still have acne, even, but much milder), but most of my age cohorts have wrinkles and bald patches.

so yeah....I started liking my oily skin once I hit my mid 30s.

I've never heard of a pothead resisting arrest violently.

Unless you're Amish, you probably partake in the at least one of the more popular legal drugs: cigarettes, alcohol, and caffeine. The first two cause far more deaths per year than marijuana (which at last count caused ZERO deaths).

177. I have emphysema, full blown, can't walk above a slow saunter
emphysema. I smoke good bud every day and it helps, not hurts. I have a vaporizer but it is something of a pain in the ass. I just take very, very small tokes from my pyrex pipe. Many tiny tokes add up to a good bong hit, and hey, I have all day.

P.S. The lung disease came from tobacco, not cannabis.

188. O! So sorry
to hear you have emphysema. Glad to hear you are still able to enjoy cannabis tho.

I smoked cigarettes for less than ten years on and off, but when I moved to CA laziness and poverty helped me change my evil tobacco ways. All my relatives in VA still smoke cigarettes tho. I worry about them given our health history.

G, I hope you don't live in an area prone to fires.

187. If you have a family history of emphysema...
...you should talk to a doctor about being tested for alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. It not only causes pulmonary problems but has been linked to liver damage as well.

If you have alpha-1, any inhaled gas can lead to permanent lung damage without regular infusion treatments.

194. It should.
Vaporizers greatly reduce the amount of carcinogens entering the lungs. When operated properly, there should be little to no combusted material (black stuff) inhaled. Quitting altogether would be the healthiest choice, or cooking/eating, but short of that a vaporizer will do a lot less damage than smoking, and many people find the timing more convenient than eating. You'll get some plant resins in your lungs, but they can be brought back up because you're not also impairing the parts of your lungs that help move out foreign matter.

i prefer smoking. and it's not at all compareable to cigarette smoke, so it doesn't really concern me.

besides- it's kind of hard to take a vaporizer on the road, or elsewhere out-of-doors, so not being able to smoke at all would be a real drag to me...

I will stand up for the legalization of marijuana any day! I had a friend who almost died of AIDS cause she couldn't eat and marijuana was the only thing that helped. Carl Sagan was a pot smoker. I'm not ashamed of it, I don't hide it - it's a hell of a lot better than alcohol or tobacco especially when cooked like in brownies or inhaled as a vapor through a vaporizer. :smoke: :hippie:

41. one more voice for rationality concerning marijuana policy
let's legalize and tax it.

There's millions of dollars out there buried in the backyards of growers who just sit on the money because they are scared of the IRS tracking them down for spending too much. Let them claim it and pay taxes. The states will receive a big new source of income from the taxes, and all the "dirty" money will suddenly be usable for investment and spending which will feed into the greater economy.

let's admit it. Most normal people have smoked a little weed at some point. A lot of very smart and decent people do it and we waste a lot of time and money punishing people who's only offense is enjoying to smoke weed. It's just not American and in this economy it doesn't make fiscal sense.

No one else is supposed to know since my parents and husband are totally against it. Thus, they will probably find my posts and figure it out. Oh well. :)

92. I don't because I hate smoke and don't want bad interactions with my psych meds.
Also folks with Asperger's like myself tend to have odd reactions to psychoactive substances in general, caffeine calms me down and makes me sleepy, for example.

other's high, works in reverse for me. When I did smoke I could stay up til 3 or 4 in the morning!

Didn't find out why until I got diagnosed, but I have many friends who started way back when and have never stopped. And never will!

Plus, I'm weird about keeping my weight down and I could NEVER stop with the munchies!

152. Well, I Don't Know What Asperger's Is, And Perhaps OCD Isn't A Disease
either! I've ALWAYS wondered whether OCD is or not! Same thing happens to me when I drink beer! For some beer calms people down, but for me I can clean a house REALLY good when I drink beer!

I DO smoke at times and even told my doctor too, he didn't seem to think it was a problem, so "go figure"? I'm thinking he must be smoking too, he's a Boomer like me!

I find it "rare" these days finding people who DON'T smoke! When meeting new people, it only takes several times together before it comes up and almost all those I meet either smoke a lot or sparingly like me!

I have to confess though, I WOULD smoke more if it weren't for my OCD weight thing! My doctor tells me "just don't get on the scales" which I laughed OUT LOUD at! There have been times I've refused to take certain drugs he prescribes, especially the ones given for seratonin re-uptake! Not taking them right now and I'm doing okay.

There are some that I KNOW I need, but "doctor" doesn't know I'm not taking 2 that he's prescribed. I say, if I'm not out of control and things are going well, then why take them?? Many of them just slow down the metabolism and makes it harder to lose weight! I HATE them! If I reach 125, it's time to diet! And yes, I guess one could consider this an OCD problem, but one that I don't think I'll ever get over or ever will WANT to get over!

I'll have to look up Asperger's now!

99. For me it's just the opposite. It works better than any med I've ever been prescribed.
Edited on Fri Oct-23-09 08:23 AM by Forkboy
It works on every aspect of my being bipolar in a way that no med has ever done, and without the side effects like liver damage, pancreas damage, etc. It works on me being manic, anxious, nauseous (my thyroid meds are brutal in that area), it helps my appetite (which is usually nil due to the meds), etc.

It's funny how it effects people differently. You're wise to not do it if you think it'll make things worse.

247. My Daughter Feels The Same Way... OCD Is Hereditary & She Has
aspects too. I think MOST of us do. But sometimes it gets more severe and can REALLY interfere with your life. There was a time when mine was pretty out of control. But I didn't know what IT was.

Took several different "cocktails" over the years and my weight even topped 150! That's when I decided to take control of "myself" and just went cold turkey! Not a good idea, but I got through it.

And it DOES depend on which strain of MJ too! I really do believe that certain types affect a person a certain way! There have been some that have been good for me, but it's the "munchies" that drive me CRAZY!!

I know a person who uses it for pain instead of soma or lortab and other types of pain meds! Swears by it.

109. 4 O'clock in the afternoon, Friday... Most certainly I will within the next 45 minutes ... :-)

I just finished my final thesis to get my second bachelor degree ... When I started smoking as a teen my parents sent me to a phony counselor who told me " YOU WILL NOT ACHIEVE ANYTHING WHEN YOU KEEP ON SMOKING " ... I think about him every time I get offered a job.

Oh, and the best thing. Where I live, there isn't a single soul in jail for posession. I'm so unused to feeling like a criminal when smoking... I can only pitty those in the US who actually have to risk something when they do it...

112. YES I smoke!
I have severe neuropathic pain from a spinal cord injury and smoking gives me 30-45min. of relief...However, I usually just smoke right before bedtime as it helps me fall asleep. Smoking during the day severely hampers my ability to read which is what I like doing to pass the time.

I live under a huge cloud of fear considering I live in the backward south where pot smokers are considered to be scum of the earth! I would not last long in jail considering I am a quad.

I didn't become a connoisseur until I met a buddy several years later who grew his own (not a drug dealer). It was an eye opener to discover strains with qualities other than couch-lock.

A few years later I realized that it was cannabis that was helping me alleviate basic stress, sleeplessness, minor pain and my chronic digestive issues. Since then I've smoked almost daily, but never during work hours and usually after 9pm.

Thankfully the state I choose to live in allows adults to use cannabis without fear of prison.

200. I partake for medical reasons ...
I was really sick within a few months after leaving the service. Lots of chronic orthopedic pain and problems, constant sick to my stomach, a major surgery every year for five years and constantly stressed to the max. Wouldn't eat, lost 50 pounds. No help from the doctors. Was recommended to me by a friend. Put 10 pounds back on and feeling better. I don't get high like when I was in high school though. Like the pain meds, I just get relief.

Needs to be legalized. We are wasting tax money chasing cannabis users and locking them up or feeding municipal government cash cows with probated sentences and 'recovery' programs. (and taking away their votes) I stongly feel the erosion of our civil liberties began with the 'War on Drugs'.

What is wrong with this country that we think a personal decision like smoking weed should be a crime. A crime against who? I have a right to put what ever I want in my body. Prohibition on alcohol took a constitutional amendment what is the difference. Drug laws are totally unconstitutional.

233. Saved me from my PTSD
I grew up in a totally abusive family with an alcoholic, non schooled, tech sergeant, who put me through boot camp starting @ 3 till I moved out. Oh and he was my step dad cause my real father wanted her to have an abortion and wanted nothing to do with me according to my biological clueless Roman Catholic mother.

If I hadn't started smoking it early (around 5th grade), I'd have lost my mind cause even after all the abuse, just listening to these ignorant country fucks talk was pushing me over the edge. I seriously experienced a loss of reality a few times and started abusing myself.

42 years later my conservative asshole of a father in law officially triggers a PTSD episode in me. I'm through counselors and am officially on Prozac and a sleeping aid yet the one thing that helped me get through it all is illegal?

Anyone who claims to know what's best for me and my well being and makes that into law can officially fuck the hell off.

I swear the next conservative bible thumping asswipe that talkes to me like he/she know's what's best for me is going to get the riot act with friggin exclamation point at the end.

As if.

256. I'm toying with the idea.
A neurologist and his psychologist wife had a big pot party for the entire medical and surgical staff at my ex-husband's hospital in Toronto when I was in my early forties (I am 71 now) I didn't feel euphoric when I smoked it. Just wondered why the person sitting beside me was waiting half an hour for me to finish a simple sentence. Then driving home I thought the radiologist neighbour at the wheel was going 100 mph and was screaming at him to slow down before he killed us. When I got into the house I started to watch Titanic (the old black and white one) on TV and thought all the people in steerage were coming to kill me. I barricaded the bedroom door and was terrified for hours.

My ex-husband was fearful of attending the function and went north to our cottage with the children and the dog. (The other staff members had a life-sized photo of him at the event just so's he would be in all the pictures.)

The only other occasion I tried it was at Canadian Thanksgiving week-end on our island at Temagami. I have seen all the pictures so I know I was there but don't recall much. Most likely because I am an alcoholic and was blacked out from alcohol. My ex-husband did not smoke pot but stood guard running all over the island watching for Mounties or cops. He thought they might come by water or by air. Apparently he didn't need to smoke pot to get paranoid. The pumpkin pie was good. Lots of rum and maple syrup. I don't remember the turkey or the pot.

We often had hash brownies at other medical parties and that didn't seem to cause paranoia.

I quit drinking years ago. My family has a terrible history of alcoholism and depression. My youngest daughter and her bf both inherited alcohol gene and chose to smoke pot instead of drinking. No problems. It's so stupid they don't make it legal.

I could get it any time now as I live in pot country and it just grows naturally all over the place, farmers fields and so on. (Tee hee!) But what's the point if I get paranoid?

I will definitely use it if my arthritis gets bad. No way do I trust pain meds doctors prescribe. (Several doctors prescribed VIOXX a few years back when I had hip replacement.)

Since it grows so freely everywhere and it's harvest time I wonder if I should see if it still makes me paranoid.

Who can advise?

282. It was fun until my husband got addicted and then arrested
It was traumatic for us. They raided our house with a squandron of police and then put a front page article in the paper, despite that all they found was a small amount of pot. To avoid possible prision time and a possible investigation into all of his friends, my husband pleaded no contest to a felony. That was 2 years ago. He is still on probation. The only good thing is that he quit cold turkey because of it where as before it was difficult for him to go for more than a few hours without it.
I do think that, ironically, my husband wouldn't have become addicted if it had been legal.
